If we can’t figure out how to make a semi splash with all the money floating around this program, why are we even bothering? Let’s just quit football, build mtb trails and circle jerk each other about USA Today top places to live every year.

Turn that jukebox up is starting to sound as bad as left lane hammer down.

Bert 2.0 huh? I’m not even going to look it up, but Pittman signed seven 4 stars this year, and has 8 more on our list right now.

According to Harry 247 is all made up and only coaches can evaluate talent.

Bert signed 8 through his first two years. And 7 his 3rd year of recruiting. 6 in his 4th year with one being a 5 star in McTelvin Agim.

you have deep-seated anger, and that's triple bad coming from me

or maybe it's not anger, its' just that you know zero about the game of football or what it takes to pull a program from the abyss

the jukebox versus hammer down? Math is hard? Is math hard STLhog?

You’ve been asked who you would have hired. You haven’t answered. We got jerked around by Kiffin. Maybe Leach was available, since State hired him. His offense looks good, but they just got hosed by LSU, which means Bama will also eat their lunch. So who would you have thrown the checkbook at, and who is your OC and DC?

In my “Who do we want” thread, you were:

Norvell
Kiffin
Clark
Leach

So, Norvell?

Two weeks ago we were #9 in the country. We were a trendy pick as darkhorse and pulled in tons of national print

Of course, since then it didn't work out, but I'd call that a semi splash

I wanted Kiffin, I wanted Rhule.

That’s about it. I don’t think we really went full out for Kiffin. Seems like HY was trying to penny pinch after having to pay Bert and Chad.

Rhule wasn’t really an option because of the NFL, but he will be soon.

Currently. I like Aranda but he seems like a Pittman to me, maybe just better at the overall decision making.

Lebby is going to be a HC soon, but he runs a modified Briles/Kiffin offense and the stall outs would drive everyone here crazy.

I think the only person no one would complain about would be Urban Meyer or BMFP.

The better question after resigning Pittman is what offensive/defensive coordinators have you been watching that you want?

Hey guys we’re 3-2 with one of the losses being to bama. I think fire Pittman statements should be postponed for a little bit. We can still have a solid season. I mean if we go 8-4 2 consecutive years that’s still football stability. After a few more years where there’s a real culture of winning gaMes and being an above average program you’ll start seeing the players stop making silly mental mistakes because they’ll be playing with the confidence of winning being expected.

I’m not calling for firing Pittman yet, I am calling for the looking forward to a new DC and probably OC when they both get head coaching gigs at the end of the year.

What two should we be watching extra closely in this time?

It is pittman's 3rd season as a HC at this level.

He is still very much learning. If he wants to succeed, he will continue learning and bring in what is needed, and make the tough decisions. If he doesn't, he will show himself out one way or the other.

I like the dude, but TAMU was definitely, better been a hard learning lesson. Coaching yesterday was abysmal overall.

Especially the defense imho. But we have to have the jimmys and joes as well. Well, whose job on defense is it to go get those players? Hold someone accountable and turn up the heat a bit period!

The defense wasn’t this bad the past 2 seasons so what if part of the problem is the new secondary coach? It’s not like under Odom before we’ve had trouble tackling this bad

If Odom leaves I’d try to get someone from Oklahoma state or Baylor. They’ve been churning out some good defenses recently and I think when you go after guys who’ve been coaching at places like alabama and Georgia you get a problem of them coming in with ideas on how to stop certain offenses that in reality don’t work with the caliber of player we have available. You bring in a guy from Georgia or bama only if you feel certain he can recruit a much better talent level. On offense I like graham harrel but I think he likes to throw it to much for pittmans taste

OSU hired what’s his face from Vandy. Was the head coach there.

We will find out more in regards to Pittman’s ability to be a HC when he does need to or have to make a move. He is a very nice person and his first big firing is probably going to be difficult for him.

The biggest issue is all the newcomers and going through spring and then fall mainly running man to man and now realizing that ain’t gonna work. There aren’t many guys left on the back end that spent a couple years under Odom.

Reality is they probably should’ve never committed to man and stayed zone. Man’s to man is all we heard about through camp, so we all know that’s at least 85-90% of what they worked on and installed.

This. I think he’s going to have to make some moves after this year. Either Odom gets out and works like a dog to get the guys we need on D, or he needs to go. I’d be fine with Briles getting at least one year with a QB who can actually throw the ball, but he has to thoroughly evaluate his play calling and make changes there. He kills too many drives, and we punt entirely too much to consider his offense effective.
