if we hire malzahn we should immediately hire nutt as AD after.

that was a winning formula for him last time he was here.

Yep. And sign it. Probably before the game Saturday.

If he does, I hope folks finally get permanently off of the Gus Bus. He would have led us on and kept us from hiring sooner, perhaps better than we would have.

He would have shown himself to be what I have always thought.

He would become like Marcus Monk to me...

Not going to happen. We'll see the Auburn decals pop back up on vehicles all over Malzahndale.

Nah. How'd you get the 20 million for Gus?

I'm not sure why that's sticking in my mind. Maybe it's only 14 million once you factor his assistants buyouts + his own.

Either way it's a lot of damn money. You're looking at a grand total of around 30 million. And Gus wants 60 million in his contract. 10 years at 6 million. Lmao

Like I said in a previous post. I have no doubts there are people that want to make this happen. But not everyone.

Also, at the risk of looking like a braggart, I've been pretty good on my numbers so far. Check this exchange on the rant board from over a month ago. Topic is Bielema's buyout and one of our resident insiders had to tell me what's what. Lol...

12.4 is the number I heard. May have already been renegotiated.

$11.9 on January 2nd.

Someone told you wrong or you just thought of a number to make yourself sound in the know."

There's no buyout for Gus, and the assistants buyout will be tiny because the ones he don't bring will be more than likely retained by Auburn due to ties to the school.

And where'd you get the 10/60 number? Take about 3-4 years off that number.

Just like Bielema's buyout is only 5 million?

Eh. We shouldn't have to wait long now to find out how this all shakes out. I don't think it's as clear cut as people want to think it is. If there is some sort of master plan in play here I don't see it. I see a cluster frick.

Lol no. 6M goes to Gus if they fire him, he has no buyout if he leaves on his own. That's clear as day in his contract. Buyouts aren't a big as deal to pay as people make them out to be, I told everyone that last year when they swore we wouldn't fire Bielema this year due to buyout.

Like I said, shouldn't be long to wait now.

I love Arkansas. The state, the university, everything. I've been all Hog since the day I was born. That said, Gus would have to be crazy to walk away from the situation he has now in order to rebuild our program.
I hope we are all smart enough to realize that whoever we hire will not be an overnight fix to all our problems. That includes Gus.
Fellas, he's a good coach but he isn't our answer.

Yes. And it would have dropped to 11.9 on January 1.

I guess someone knew well in advance exactly when he would be fired then.
I dunno. Pretty interesting that it ended up being on the money.

Rebuild?

Bert said we're in a better spot than when he started?

Why are people still stuck on Berts buyout being 15 million dollars? It isn't even close to that. Its around 6 million. Jeff may have been an idiot about a lot of things but leaving the old terminology of dividing the 15 million by the number of months he had been employed was genius.

15.4 Million/ 96 Months = 160416.67 per month remaining on contract

160416.67 x 38 months remaining on contract = 6,095,833.33

His buyout is 6,095,833.33 if he doesn't find work.
Assistants total buyouts are 2 million if they don't find work.
Jeff Long 4 millionish

Total buyouts for the entire deal a little over 12 million.

Doesn't take a guru to see that we have some glaring issues on the offensive line and most of the defense. It's going to take a shift in recruiting focus to fix the problems.
