Good review of information. Interesting;ly enough, I think most of us would be fine with a 9-4 average. That would probability mean we'd have a "floor" of about 5 or 6 wins, and a ceiling of around 11(maybe 12 once a decade.)

In a 10 yr span

6-6 once
7-5 once
8-4 3 times
9-3 3 times
10-2 once
11-1 or better once

I'd say 65% which would put us averaging around 9 wins a season. Somewhere in there you are going to have a down year but somewhere in there you could have a great one too.
I could live with that.

In the 25 years we've been in the SEC:

2 losses: Once
3 losses: Twice
4 losses: 4 times (1 year had a tie)
5 losses: 6 times
6 losses: 4 times
More than 6 losses: 8 times

In the 25 years in the SEC, here is how our conference records shake out:

8-0: Never
7-1: Once
6-2: 4 times
5-3: 2 times
4-3-1: Once
4-4: 5 times
3-4-1: Once
3-5: 4 times
2-6: 6 times
1-7: Never
0-8: Once

So, in our SEC History, we have had a winning record 8 times. .500 record 5 times, losing record 12 times.

The common thread with our great seasons is that the defenses have been really good. Offense isn't our issue, it's our defense not stopping the opponents.

I think if Bielema can find a good defensive coordinator, there's a chance he can turn it around.

Robb Smith is not that guy. If Robb is our defensive coordinator in 2017, Bielema won't be our coach in 2018.

That comes out to a 71% win percentage (not including bowl games in the calculation). I don't think that's completely out of the realm of possibility, but definitely on the higher end of what we can achieve realistically IMO.

CBB will be coaching here past 2018 if he doesn't decide to leave on his own.

That buyout guarantees it... Barring Harley gate type of incident or health, etal...

I'm ok with a 65% average. I would just like to compete for the SEC West every few years. I understand that we may go 6-6 or 5-7 one year when we are rebuilding, but I would also like to win 10 or 11 games every few years.

Now, we don't have to win the SEC every few years (especially since Bama is so damn good), but I would like to at least have some championship hopes past the month of August.

if he wants to save his butt, he would attempt at all cost to get into the top 12 of the rankings in the next 2 seasons by the end of the year.

That would most likely place him in the Cotton bowl, when it isn't a playoff game. The hogs in the cottong against another top 12 team would do wonders for the program/support.

10/2 would most likely do it... 9/3 is a slight possibility.

66% winning percentage would do it for me. But hey, lets be honest. We are absolutely being the program that settles for less. We are a dumpster fire at this moment in time.

Prior to coach O being hired at LSU, would you have thought he would succeed. And I believe he will.

On the other hand, so many of the sec schools are Down... It is what it is...

What you said at the end is exactly true. The sec as a whole is as down as it will ever be. This is our time to make a jump if we're ever going to, but we've got fans who have settled for mediocrity and think we're just little Ole Arkansas and need to be happy if we win 7 games and are lucky enough to play in the liberty bowl.

If we don't completely shut down in the last two games, we are sitting at 9-4, top 25, and not having this conversation

I see that as horrible, some see that as reason for hope, and the folks with power aren't likely engaged in message board banter.

My truest hope is that my fatalism is proven to be horribly wrong
