They're just trying to ask the tough questions because that's what reporters are supposed to do. If the kid doesn't want to answer he doesn't have to.

I mean, we all wonder

Exactly, and Joe Schmo Hog fan won't get a chance to ask Allen this question so the reporter did.

Which means this dude is about to frickING BEAST IT next year. I mean like lets have a moment of silence for SEC MLBs next year type beasting. He's going to rock heads like their helmets are bathroom stalls and you just put Ben Rothlisberger in all of them.

I think it crossed a line, but I think grown men should have a little tact and be at least somewhat respectful.

Its personal and cheap question.

Brandon isn't on the team because his dad is a coach.

"What if your dad gets fired, what will you do?"

It's one of the biggest questions on every Hog fan's mind. I applaud the reporter for asking it because it's something fans want to know. People always bitch about Arkansas sports media, and then when one of the members actually does his job people say it 'crossed a line.'

What line exactly? It's perfectly appropriate. Brandon Allen is an adult and he will potentially be the starting quarterback for a major D-1 program. He should be prepared to answer tough questions.

Or maybe the reporter could have just asked, 'Whaddya think of Coach's wife? Do you think she's pretty?'

Its a personal question about his family.

It can be justified in a round about way because his dad is on staff, but its still a personal question that's really none of anybody's business.

That's the definition of cheap.

Half of it is a personal question. The other half is about personnel. Players and coaches get asked personal questions all the time.

It's actually every Hog fan's business because Allen is the projected starter. It's also a question Bielema will most likely be asking Brandon. Do you think Coach B should refrain from asking Brandon this question because it's personal?

I'm on the fence about it. It takes balls to ask the question, and the reporter did. These "kids" aren't really kids, and you have to think that he knew someone would eventually ask that question - if they haven't already in private. He was probably prepared for it.

I'm a little too overboard on my hatred of them, but they're unqualified and if they were held to standards of professionalism they'd have been canned years and years ago.

That's why I said it was cheap. It can be justified, but its still kind of a cheap shot.

My boss the other day was saying "I read in Wally Hall...blah blah..." and asked if I had read the column.

I told him point blank: I don't respect Wally Hall or his opinions.

His job isn't assuage the concerns of Razorback fans. It's play football and go to class. If he doesn't feel comfortable answering a question, he shouldn't

Couldn't have said it any better, except I would have added "to" in front of assuage.

Whoops, good call

ETA: Really, my underlying point was that he was comfortable answering or else he would've said something noncommittal like "Man, I'd need to talk it over with my pops, etc"

My point is, did any of the other players get asked "If they fire this assistant, will you quit?"

The implication being that Brandon is only on the team because of his dad being a coach. He isn't. And so its a stupid question.

It just made me uncomfortable for Brandon, and also, frick our media.

i think it's shitty to ask him, too. My view might be skewed though as a parent. I would want to knock the frick out of some reporter for making my kid uncomfortable with a question.

someone asking his dad if brandon would stay/go....different story.

you're reading into it to much. I think the implication was that Brandon only came here because of his dad. Maybe he had another dream school but only came here because he wanted to play on a team his dad coached.

Could go either way
