When anyone wants to start working for themselves let me know, I'm eyeing OKC, KC, Tulsa, Wichita, DFW, Austin, Memphis the hardest for expansion in the next 6-12 months.

Your ambiguity has piqued my interest. Can you offer any specifics?

don't think I've mentioned this before, but with the field i'm in my dad knows lanny over at hogville through his real job. but dad just knows him as lanny beavers at garver. dad mentioned to me before that i should start a sport website like lanny did. never really put much thought into what sport website lanny is over, until i started seeing people here using lanny's name in referencing hogville. then just added 2 and 2 together, small world...
eta: we do work for garver all the time.

Stonehog, where in TV did you work? The last place I did time in looks like it's going to be shuttered soon.

Will be an accountant in 2016.
Just finished up my first semester at the UofA and looking forward to many more!
If only I can keep on pulling off 4.0's.

You need to punch that count right in the throat for all of Arkansas' sake.

If the managing editor is still who I think it is, he's a chill dude and a BAMF at the same time.
Getting out of TV was a great thing for me. I started having personal relationships with people who weren't easily excitable.
The only downside was that I didn't meet as many attractive (and shallow) women with weird self-esteem and father issues.
j/k j/k j/k of course.

To be honest, I kinda don't think you're kidding.

So your parties consisted less of you, dog leashes, hot tubs, coke, and other dudes?

I worked for a week with that guy. He was super lethargic and it seemed like he was bored with everything. Now that I know how he spent his weekends, I think I understand better.
A gay weatherman? Now I've heard everything!

And so I don't veer things too much, if there are any folks in journalism out there, let me know. I have friends in print and TV newsrooms in Little Rock and a few in newsrooms across the country.

Dying field. If you majored in journalism, consider the military.

Oh and as far as networking, I know a lot of good brew pubs and good rides in Texas / New Mexico.

Here's the secret: for every contracting newsroom is a growing in-house PR department. In-house video production, press releases, copy for Web or publication, and there's always a need for attractive faces to put on camera to be the face for a company.
Newsrooms will weed out people who aren't good at their jobs and the great people who make too much money. Those folks will find paying work in PR, and often will make more money, have better hours, fewer deadlines and a better quality of life. Journalism majors will be fine. Good local reporting will suffer though.

Home is in DFW. I'm actually the person that corresponds between corporate retailers and the owner, but not in leasing. I deal with the management side, but with upper management. Oh and I deal with a certain medical center that is a part of a certain school in the sec that is for super smart kids.

However, I'm definitely interested in what you do.

I'm happy where I am, but I certainly wouldn't mind more money if it happened to work out from a work/life balance.
