Mike Anderson.
Has never made an Elite 8 at a school like Tulsa. If you want to put Missouri on that level, fine. He then followed it up with increasingly worse finishes the two years after.

Bill Self turned around and took Illinois to the Elite 8 THE VERY NEXT YEAR IN YEAR 1.

That's what a good coach looks like. Mike has had PLENTY of time.

I love how the Sweet 16 is some crazy bar to accept Mike. We gonna get Sweet 16 rings for the team?

How is going to Shreveport or Memphis for a bowl game not the same as New Orleans or Pasadena? Because it just fricking is.

It might shock you but I think Mike is an ok coach. I think he has a solid resume and I was happy to have him. But I've worn thin the last 2 seasons with the results. If this were average years under Mike I would be ecstatic but they aren't. They are his best years and this is the pinnacle of his best seasons at Arkansas. That is sad.

Mike can win here. But for that to happen he will need athletes that far outmatch the competition. Not by a little but I'm talking Fab 5 level talent to get us there.

They don't understand that. It will take a season without a Portis or a Gafford for people to realize it's not going to get much better than this. But that's fine because we're cool with just making the tournament.

We are going to be making the tournament for the 3rd time in 4 years, and you can't just assume we are going to lose in the first or second round. This team could easily make a run to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8, 100%. If that happened everyone would immediately change their tune.

Way too early in the season for this shite, if they end the year winning like 6 of 7 again and make the SECT finals then everyone would be thinking once again we can make a deep run just like before the season.

Like I said I'm happy with that if that is the norm. Making the tourney is the bar. Not making it should be a seldom occurrence and happen during rebuilding. And yeah I think we could make a run. Not confident about it since we will likely be a 7-10 seed again but I could see it. Then he would have earned his paycheck. We will see.

Eta: I put the low end of the bar this year at a 5 seed. Especially after how we started off the season. We could still get there but it will take a little more than what we've seen out of them so far.

You're a certified retard if you think I would root against the Hogs in anything. If anything, I would think my clamoring for better performances makes me a better fan than you. Better than being happy with lil ole Arkiesaw being exciting against mediocre teams then getting dickslapped by real contenders.

Dude just shut the frick up

Big bad keyboard warrior 6 hours later.

Nice input btw. Loved your take on the game.

When we get bounced in the first weekend again playing the same stupid playground hero ball we're playing now you all can remember this conversation and get bent.

13 straight conference championships

I'm told conference championships don't matter in basketball or baseball.

But when a coach you think is great doesn't cut the mustard in the tourney for the program he's at or the talent his program attracts they all the sudden matter?

I would stab 12 people to have made the Final Four twice in the last 13 years.

I've been hard on Mike when the team under performs... and lets face it we've had some bowling shoe ugly games this year where they did. I've also given him credit when the team does well.

A hideous win like we had against Okie State, is a lot better then a gorgeous loss.

The thing is... we are going to get complete eyesore games like this with the system that we are running in today's NCAA basketball.

While I remember the golden years of Razorback basketball I also remember the last few years that Nolan was here when the flaws in that system were exposed.

If the other team, or the refs, slows the game down we are going to be in trouble because we don't have a plan B. Nolan and Mike both are not great Xs and Os coaches who have a ton of plays to go too in a half court set up.

As much as it pains me to say it, what we do in the Forty Minutes of Hell system is a lot like the HUNH that the Gus Bus runs. Its not a tremendously complicated system... but we run it so fast it wears you down. Fatigue makes cowards of us all.

Just like the HUNH when its clicking we can blow just about anyone out of the water... and the other side of that coin is that when its not we can get an absolute beat down laid on us.

In regular season games where the refs are calling fouls every ten seconds we aren't going to be able to run away from many teams. When the refs swallow their whistles and we can get into a fast paced game you see the sort of epic scoring runs that Nolan's teams put away folks with.

At this stage of his career Mike Anderson is not going to change his entire philosophy. We are who we are in basketball.

Name me a coach or system that does not have an ugly loss during the regular season.
