Again, what Arkansas basketball coach could sniff a head gig in the NBA?

I didn't ask about Petrino, as we all know what Bobby does at his stops.

And that Petrino hire worked out well didn’t it?

If there is a correlation to being a bad professional coach and sleeping with your employees, you 100% have a point.

But I'm going to take a big risk here and say Musselman isn't going to do that in his tenure here.

I wasn’t replying to you with that Petrino statement, I was replying to rockiee.

I am replying to you with this post though. Keep up son.

Good coaches get fired in the NBA pretty often.
good NBA coaches are usually good before they get fired tho. Rosters can really make you look bad when you're actually a good coach i.e. Rick Adelman. Muss was never good as an NBA coach. Hopefully he can join the long list of successful college coaches who sucked in the NBA lol.

People in the NBA disagree with you. He was 2nd in coach of the year voting as head coach of a garbage Golden State team. Only lost to Greg Popovich. I think I can live with a coach like that.

Musselman has received heaps and heaps of praise for being one of the best coaches in the entire game of basketball. I am not concerned about Musselman in the least. I feel very confident in saying we are all about to enjoy some very good times as hogs hoops fans.

Let me rephrase, Muss's NBA teams were not good. They were well coached, but they weren't good teams, making him look bad, and then getting fired the next year despite finishing second in COTY voting as you stated. Rosters and injuries will make or break you almost no matter how well you coach in the NBA.

We’re so miserable we’ve started blasting a coach before his first game in a thread about a completely different sport.

Which is why we won't get a sniff from Leach, and don't want Kiffin.

Leach coaches at Washington fricking state that is not a major school. I swear half of our fan base is eithe borderline retarded who pays no attention to college sports. We’ve got people saying we need to take coaches from Clemson and others saying coaches at Washington state wouldn’t come here

Eh, I'm not so sure about that if we came for him with a serious offer. For over 20 years he coached in the south. There were also rumors of him putting his name out for the Tennessee job but who knows the truth to that all. When he went to Washington St, to my knowledge, it was the best offer he had after the "mini-scandal" that occurred at Tech. Wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to get back somewhere south again. I'm not saying he would be my first serious offer but I don't think he would be off the table if we were serious about it.

Well, since you want to be pissy about it, I'll point out to you that neither is Arkansas. When is the last time we achieved anything of significance in college football? The 1978 Orange Bowl?

So it's your assertion that we would have no problem pulling a PAC-12 head coach, but pulling an assistant from Clemson is a pipe dream?

Were there any rumors of him putting his name out for the Arkansas job? We had a coaching search going not long ago too, you know?

There was interest from leach last time. That is a fact. Trey buddy has confirmed multiple other Arkansas media personalities have confirmed it. He would 100% coach at Arkansas. We are a much bigger program than Washington state. Just because we’ve had a few bad years doesn’t take away the infrastructure fan support facilities and revenues that we produce that says we are a major power

It was more in general, Tennessee just seemed to have more interested headed that way than we did

Forgive me for not buying into what Arkansas media says. Not doubting you, but I can't remember a time when Arkansas media wasn't full of shite.

I think this is part of our problem. We aren't a major power in college football, and haven't been since the 1960s.

Sorry. Not trying to be at all. I just remember a whole lot of folks shouting for Leach when we were looking, never heard the first word, good, bad or otherwise from anyone out there.

More than rumors, there was interest. I don't know how far it got, it may have just been a phone call, but Leach was for sure on our radar.

ETA - the media is not my source, I was actually posting about it on here long before they said anything if you want to go through the post history
