Some folks draw their opinions from message boards and such and refuse to ever veer because they would consider it a sign of weakness, though that reasoning is weak in itself……

From being there it was like our last closer vs their best batters to end it. It was an incredible duel to just witness in person let alone be a part of. And it was a big post season win to beat someone at their own regional in front of a rowdy crowd.

Okla, what did you think of O’Brate?

My opinion: Nice, quaint facility. Not near as big of a stadium as I expected. Plenty of concourse and walking space (lots of concrete & brick). Surprised of only one concession stand on each baseline.

We used the CF entrance every day. Weird that they don’t have suites. Those are simply club seats with indoor area all around. I thought the grill/loge box options they had all around, basically from 1st base to CF was neat. Good option to put in Hog Pen IMO.

Never impressed with a new stadium that inserts metal bleachers in sections like they did.

Overall I thought it was a decent stadium but they could have made it much better in areas. Also, the stadium lacks any historical references to OSU baseball history, which is very solid.

Hogville nonsense

Speaking of Hogville nonsense, there is actually a thread for asking for people to eat crow now that the team and coaches have pulled their collective heads out of their asses finally.

Hogs pick up Creighton grad transfer Jared Wegner.

Wegner played LF for the Blue Jays and started all 49 games

Can he start in Gregory’s place this weekend?

I agree with much of what you said. That's very surprising those aren't boxes upstairs i was sure they would be with little patios of chairs. i guess the corrals serve the purpose of boxes?

There was tons of walking room all over the stadium and lots of places to stand. i walked around for various parts of the game. I was hoping for something more like the hogpen but it kind of spread everyone out along the rim of the stadium.

Corrals are by far the coolest part of the stadium. The fans were saying there is some oddities that happen during other games because those corral holders are required to get seats as well, so you end up with empty seats during most games.

Stadium was pretty nice but nothing too elaborate very basic fan amenities outside of those corrals where you can byo.

I will say: Slavens and Stovall are seeing pitches like they never have. Really good takes, not out in front on anything. After Slavens' injury it seems he was just deciding before a pitch if he was swinging or not.

Our guys are locked in.

Our bats seem to be peaking at the right time for once.

Seeing Slavens smoke one over the wall in left-center and then smashing a line drive to left (unfortunately directly to the left fielder) was so good to see. If he's starting to hit like that then he's going to do very well this weekend.

In the final game post game presser against OSU, Michael Turner and DVH mentioned that the game is finally slowing down for Stovall. He's more relaxed than ever and just being himself finally. Apparently, the hype was getting to him.

Slavens is hitting better but DVH mentioned that some players don't listen. He told a few lefties to sit slow pitches on Campbell, OSU's ace, not to swing at fastballs. Slavens didnt listen and K'd. Turner listened and got the 2 RBI double to add insurance runs.

I love Slavens but stuff like that is why he has been struggling since last year. He just does what he wants.

Robert Moore is still just swinging with his eyes closed.

It's K, pop up, homer or nothing with him still.

Where you seeing this? They have 2 solid starters - one is a LHP and one is a RHP. They don’t really have a 3rd starter. Their top 3 arms out of the pen are 2 righties and a lefty?

You’re forgetting his patented weak pull side ground ball to the 2nd baseman.

Yeah, was trying to understand that as well

1 of the top 5 most used arms is a lefty

I’m rewatching the game- a bit here a bit there. Big bit this morning. In case anyone can’t figure out or are mad at themselves for getting so nervous, let me just tell you that you are human and had every right to be anxious. I am watching the bottom of the 8th on replay and I’m still a little anxious. I had forgotten (blocked out) Hagan Smith hit the first batter he faced and then gave up a walk. Not a criticism really just a realization of what us poor fans had to endure to get to the end. It’s a miracle we all made it out alive.
