So this is interesting, from this Jan 6th ‘23 article:
quote:
Although no official announcement is imminent, sources close to the situation confirmed a Friday afternoon report that Tulane has promoted tight ends coach Slade Nagle to offensive coordinator.
The future of former offensive coordinator Jim Svoboda is unclear…

Jan 5th was when KB confirmed he was staying at Arkansas.
I think I cracked this one, folks.

Svoboda:
LINK
quote:
He was an assistant coach at Montana State from 2007-2009 and the Quarterbacks coach at UCLA from 2004-2005. He was a finalist for the Broyles Award in 2005 and then added the title of Offensive Coordinator for the Bruins in 2006. Prior to his time at UCLA, Svoboda spent 10 seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Northwest Missouri State. During his time at Northwest Missouri, his team won 3 Division II National Championships.
Coach Svoboda runs his base offense out of the shotgun. His team also ran plays out of the pistol, under center and the wildcat. He employs a lot of quick passes, moves the pocket and does a good job of having outlet receivers available in case the quarterback is under pressure. His quarterback was rarely hit or sacked.
In 2019, Central Missouri averaged a whopping 10.11 yards per passing attempt, which shows how explosive his offense can be. For reference, LSU’s explosive offense with Joe Burrow that same year averaged 10.6 yards per attempt.
Since 2017, his receivers averaged 15.47, 15.47, 18.07 and 14.50 yards per catch. In the past 5 seasons, Coach Svoboda’s teams have averaged 3,784.4 yards passing and 32 touchdowns per season.
Coach Svoboda’s teams have historically run the ball well too. From 2016-2019, his teams averaged 2,310.3 yards rushing per season, 185.6 yards per game and 28 touchdowns per season on the ground.
Central Missouri used tempo to its advantage after momentum plays and when they had the other team on the ropes. They were also able to pull back and play a little slower when the situation called for a slower tempo without hurting their offensive output.

Checks lots of boxes for what Pittman wants in an offense.

So tired of turnover. Is it too much to ask that we don't install brand new play books every 3 seasons?

Just so everyone is on the same page, Svoboda was not the one calling plays for Tulane at the end of the season. He was stripped of that duty sometime during their season and their newly promoted OC/TE coach took over.

Damn, I thought I had stumbled upon the answer! Back to the drawing board…

His much skinnier, more handsome brother?

quote:Agree. Enos is really the only hire that would make me feel like we didn't ultimately lose out. I'm a little gunshy on Mullen.
I’d be fine with any of these but going from Briles to this total list is pretty depressing.

I always liked Enos... And still do. It would take the sting away for me!
But, Doubtful....

Well you might get your wish. Hot of the press from the Maryland 247 site:
For the record, I don’t think it’s Enos. This reads to me like a bunch of folk in Maryland saw him on Trey’s hot board and know he’d leave for an SEC job so they’re running with it.
quote:
I'm hearing Dan Enos is a top candidate to replace Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, who's expected to leave for the same job at TCU. It won't be surprising if he's offered and accepts job, multiple sources said.
Enos, who's spent the past two years as Maryland's offensive coordinator, has ties to Arkansas, having served as the Razorbacks offensive coordinator from 2015-17. It's not surprising they like him there; Arkansas averaged more than 35 points per game in his first year, ranking second in the SEC, and was one of two FBS programs with a 3,000-yard passer and 1,300-yard rusher in both 2015 and 2016, with different players at each of those positions in each season.
At Maryland, Enos has guided a powerful offense led by star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. In his first year, Maryland set single-season program records for total yards (5,740), passing yards (3,960), completions (339) and completion percentage (69.3%) in 2021. This year, they ranked fifth in the Big Ten in points per game (28.2) and fourth in yards per game (401.2) fourth in offensive efficiency (141.5). Also Maryland's quarterbacks coach, Enos has also tutored Tagovailoa, who set seven single-season Maryland records in 2021, including passing yards (3,860), completions (328), completion percentage (69.2) and passing touchdowns (26). Enos has also been a piece of Maryland's strong recruiting efforts during the past two seasons. But his play calls have frustrated fans, and seemingly Mike Locksley, at times.
I'm told by multiple sources that Enos is likely to be receptive to an offer. He also overlapped with Arkansas coach Sam Pittman during that 2015 season, so there is a relationship.
It's unclear how high Enos sits on Pittman's list, but there's chatter that he'll be in the mix for the job. It's possible one of the other candidates ranks higher on Pittman's list and will scoop the job first, but this is worth keeping close tabs on. Obviously, it would be a major development if he were to leave, given how crucial the offensive coordinator job is, Maryland's recent resergence and Tagovailoa's return.
For the record, I don’t think it’s Enos. This reads to me like a bunch of folk in Maryland saw him on Trey’s hot board and know he’d leave for an SEC job so they’re running with it.

want to post just a small bit of good news...
Newdie is coming back!
"I want to thank God for allowing me to be able to play the game that I love," McGlothern said. "I am thankful for Arkansas coaching staff, fans and my teammates for accepting me into this program. With that being said, after talks with my family, I have decided to return to the University of Arkansas for one more year! Woo Pig."
McGlothern was a steady presence for the Hogs at corner, making several game-changing plays throughout the year. He finished the 2022 season with 42 tackles, nine pass breakups, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Hit post too soon. It’s funny reading their board though in the thread about it. They sound so much like our fans. Not upset that he’d leave because he makes cutesy drive killing/bone headed calls at times.
