Dirk retires, Vanover appears. There MUST be a tall, white, ugly dude. It is known.

Got to watching highlights of Whitt from 2017-18 (YouTube doesn’t have any of last year for some reason) and he looks like a totally different player than I remember from when he was here. Super long arms and was catching lobs all day. I think he can make a big impact for us, dude averaged 6 rebounds per game as a guard. Still has a weird looking shot but whatever works. Harris coming off the bench fresh with his athleticism will be nice too.

Drew, Pio, Chesh, ARhog, ETC....

What do you expect out of our team this season overall? Do we have the talent for Muss' system to make a run at all in the SEC/NCAA/NIT?

The way the dude seems to be recruiting and working the PR/Socia Medis/Fans he seem to absolutely be a homerun hire... thanks

NCAAT bubble team without Vanover/Walker.

Sweet 16 team with Vanover and Walker.

I'm tempering expectations but, with Vanover and Walker I feel a NCAA Tourney team.

Show growth, rebound the basketball and stay competitive, I'm good with a NIT run.

Expectations fluctuate based on who actually gets to be on the court this season, but no matter who plays I expect us to be much more technically sound both on and off the ball. I think we'll see better ball movement and an offense that has more of a focused objective rather than just trying to force something to happen. We've shot a lot of 3's in the past, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if we shot even more this year.

If Vanover gets to play, I'd expect us to play a lot of pick n roll off of him and a transition game that focuses on hitting him trailing at the top of the key, similar to how the 2011 Mavericks ran a good portion of their offense. Our speedy guards would be able to play off of the spacing created by the defense having to respect Vanover's range, giving our slashers more room inside.

My one concern is interior defense. I'm not convinced Vanover will be much of a force when bodied up by the much fuller bigs he'll be up against in conference play. If that turns out to be untrue or the team finds a way to remedy that weakness, I'd peg us as a dark horse in the conference. I expect Chaney to take a huge step this year.

NCAAT team with Vanover. NIT without. I don’t expect to get Vanover so I’m setting my expectations at NIT. That honestly has me excited considering where I thought we’d be when the season ended last year.

I'm expecting Isiah Joe To step his game up. He needs to do a better job of creating his own shot.

So, competitive in the NIT to lower lever NCAA Tourny team. Great. Thanks everyone. I hope somehow vanover gets cleared.

Looking forward to Basketball season!

any idea what the vanover/walker decisions are pending on? Like what are they key things being reviewed for them?

Haven’t followed at all so TIA. any thoughts on chances of them being eligible would be welcome as well

Regarding Vanover, I don't think anyone can really answer this for you because Musselman nor Connor know. We know that Musselman is acting as if he isn't going be be granted. Connor didn't seem very positive about the chances when asked a few days ago.

Regarding Walker, I think most things look positive towards him being able to play early next year. That will just come down to if the work is done but everything I have read points to him getting that done by December. We still have to land him though.
