Every hire truly is a gamble. Dan Lanning only had a few years of coordinator experience and Belichick is an NFL legend, one has been great and the other has flopped (so far).

I realize there’s no rhyme or reason to it sometimes the older I get and follow college football.

We’re not a basketball school but…

We have a hall of fame basketball coach
We are a top five NIL spender in basketball
We expect to be and are ranked in the top 20 every year

And in football….we’ve pretty much sucked for all but a couple,e of the last 25 years….and are in fact usually irrelevant,
The string of coaches we’ve had for that 25 year period is awful….only headlined by Bobby Petrino who most anywhere else consider a one trick pony pariah.
Our NIL spend on football is at an all time record for us….and still dead last or second to it in the SEC.

But,,,,we’re a football school.

So in 2012 we were a football school then? You don’t understand what I mean when I say football school or basketball school. It’s not about what is best right now it’s about what sport is the fan base living and dying on. Kentucky fans will have a meltdown like that lady did the other day on the chuck and Bo show if they flame out in basketball. The fanbase here isn’t that die hard about basketball, period.

This. So, if we're gambling anyway, why not gamb,e on someone who has at least had some success at a high level OR that can at least generate buzz from day one with fans and recruits/transfers.

Instead, we played the penny slots for the last three hires and generated very little, if any buzz. I'm ready to be looked on positively again. It's really fricking sad when most of the fans from other teams, other than the regular trolls, pity us so much they don't even bother to bag on us anymore.
