After Hornsby and Slusher, this one is the least shocking of the portal entries.
He was in the portal last year before they talked him out, and he’s been in the dog house for a while. His theft arrest was the last straw.
I’m not normally a “the coaches told him to move on” apologist when it comes to portalers, but there’s not a doubt in my mind was probably told to move on.

Hornsby is 185lbs and can't run 6 yds without falling over another player.

Well he isn’t gonna stand in the pocket and take hits from DL/LB.
He isn’t going to catch them across the middle and get laid out by a safety either…
At least being a safety he could ball hawk.

Just saying, if he can’t play safety with his height and speed, he can’t play. Because I don’t see it working out any where else.

If I were Hornsby I’d ask Odom if he’d take me with him to UNLV. If Petrino could get half the results out of Hornsby as he did with Lamar Jackson, Hornsby would be a decent D1 starter.

Seems like Petrino's offense requires a qb who can throw a ball. Might be a deal breaker.

It was dumb of Hornsby and our staff to leave him at QB. He would have had a ton of opportunities here as a DB or WR.

It was dumb of all parties for him to stay this season and withdraw from the portal a year ago.
It caused some fans to want him on the field all the time, only for him to always inevitably frick something up OR some fans wanted him at QB when KJ was hurt.

His only way to make a difference is at WR. A motion guy that runs across the field for end arounds and things like that. He could make a huge impact of special teams.
