So my only credentials are that I've been a HS head coach and/or coordinator in some capacity for 10 years and have 17 years total experience as a HS coach in Texas and Arkansas.

Run game, our line is not as talented as we've been at times, but there's way too much window dressing in the run game. Too many shifts and motions and not near enough big on big blocking. I've noticed this since Enos has been here. I'm an Enos fan but I think sometimes we need to forget all the movement and just run Lead and Power with the fullback doing his thing.
Simplify and get good at something. Find an identity.

Passing game. I think the biggest issue here is inexperience with the WRs. It is obvious at times that AA doesn't go through his reads, and some of that may be pressure in his face.... but our route distribution is a mystery at times. We need more High/Low concepts that simplify the read key for AA until the line can protect longer.

Screens..... yeah it would be nice to see some of these.... just saying.....
there is this thing in Football now called an RPO..... it would be nice to see our offense progress to more of that. with Hayden and JRed it would be tough to defend.

I support this staff and want to see them do well. But there are glaring weaknesses that a HS coach can see. I can only imagine what SEC DC's are thinking when they watch our film.

Solid take. Think you are spot on in the run game. The fullback being involved in the run game is 100% needed in our offense. Against TCU, the fullback was involved only in a handful of plays which is baffling.

Never will happen with Bert here. Remember if you don't line up with a fullback we will kick your arse.

Spot on.

One simple question Coach. In year 5 why do we have such glaring problems? This is what I can't wrap my head around.

Spot on. I spent 16 years coaching high school football before getting into administration, and I agree with you 100%. I mentioned in a thread about moving to the spread that RPO's, quicks, and screens would give our playmakers chances in space. It would simplify things behind a shaky O-line, to where Allen wouldn't have to stand in the pocket and wait for routes to develop.

Cornelius, Jones, Hammonds, and even Hayden...those guys could do damage in space with their athleticism if given the opportunity. Would add a dimension that we lack offensively. I also think that given a choice, that Enos would employ more of these concepts into our offense.

I don't know anything about coaching, but why doesn't Austin ever run in a bad situation? Most of the time if he were to step forward he'd have nice gaps to get yards. I can understand his "pro qb" style, but if he's going to take beatings (in the pocket), why hasn't he made a quick read and then taken off?

He did a couple times but you can tell he doesn't know how to take a hit. He gets nailed reallybbaf every time he doesn't go out of bounds

That's probably the biggest thing we miss about Brandon. He had great pocket awareness, and he was also quick to take off and run if he saw an opening. He was quietly a very good scrambler when he was here.

I mean I'm not crazy right? There has been plenty of times with big enough gaps that you scratch your head and ask, "why didn't he just run straight ahead?"

To me this would help the offense very much. It would add one more threat on offense. I'm not talking Johnny Football here, but simple situational awareness and speed.

What is funny about that is we were told that this was more of an Austin thing when he was a back up.

What's funny is that is wrong even from high school. I was told Austin was faster but i do not believe that. Brandon actually has been taking off and running from high school all the way to the NFL. Austin has never really done this.

Agree. The strength of this team is at RB and TE. Think we need to see more double TE sets. Use a TE in motion to help block the edge and open up running lanes. Plus our TEs would be more productive receivers than this young WR corp we have. Sadly, I'm not sure our line can manage this.

That's a good question. I think that we have missed on several OL prospects and we are seeing that now. I'd say the talent is there at the skill positions. Recruiting/development has to get better.
I also wonder if there is a bit of a disconnect between BB and Enos... seems like they have differing philosophies offensively and it's pulling the offense in multiple directions which isn't good.
Also, we can sugar coat it if we want, but Austin Allen has regressed from last year. Not sure yet who to fault for that one.
