What would it take for him to get a legitimate look at the job? Btw, I'm not saying its my first choice or even remotely possible, but it wouldn't be unprecedented (Dabo, Orgeron were both interims that worked out well).
Does he need to outright beat LSU? keep it within a TD? Beat Missouri? What would it take for him to be in the conversation?

if this team looks completely different and wins the last two I think it's tough to say he shouldn't get a swing at it. hell maybe it's what we need to get back to competitive.

If he beats no.1 LSU the job is his. If not it’s not..simple

if he beats LSU and then loses to Mizzou I am not gonna be a fan of that decision

Under no circumstances should he looked at.

What makes you say that?

Because if we are looking at position coaches only because he's some kind of legacy hire, we deserve only win 2 games every year. The entire notion is hogville level stupidity.

if lunney can get these guys winning I'd sure hate to pass on that. I dont think this I'd going to happen but seriously after 2 years of chad why not give lunney a chance if he wins all the games he can

Nothing. We can’t afford to hire a coach with no HC experience.

Lol. All the Gus fans downvoted for even throwing out a hypothetical because they plan on melting if it's anyone but Gus

For the Gus supporters: Former NFL GM Trashes Gus Malzahn
Gus has riding a wave of extreme good luck and benefitting from the recruiting advantages of Auburn.
He averages an 8-4 record at Auburn with 5 star talent. How is he going to do at Arkansas with 3 star talent?

I agree with your statement. However, we aren’t looking for someone to come in here and win championships. I think everyone agrees we just want some stability and a healthy foundation. Could Gus do that? Probably so.

ahhh, no he would provide the most split team and fanbase ever....
But then again I really, truly, dislike him like anchovies on a pizza hate...

The booger eating bothers me and the gun chewing and the “boom!” after he scores. I could go on and on haha

He has no shot. This is his audition for a potential head job at a smaller school.

Hiring Lunney would be the Arkansas thing to do. I would give up on the program at that point.

To simply be in the conversation? We would need to look competitive with LSU and play with a lot of energy, then beat Mizzou. He'd probably have to win both to get a REAL shot at the job.
Some high energy and hyped up play is almost expected this week no matter who the coach is however. The team has something to prove with Chad getting the axe, and it's LSU ranked #1. You better believe Lunney will educate our guys on the history there this week, if he hasn't already.
It'll be very hard to judge Lunney's actual coaching ablility this week no matter how the game goes. If we get killed then it's chalked up to the worst team in the SEC going against the best team in the country that recently knocked off Alabama; in other words, it's almost expected no matter who's coaching.
Lunney would almost get more credit with me if we get blown out this weekend and then bounce back and beat Mizzou. We're gonna take some Ls as a program no matter what, but a good coach here would have to know how to bounce back.
I DO NOT think Lunney will earn the job and I DO NOT want to give him the job.

Why are people upvoting this? LSU's the number 1 team in the country and under the highly unlikely circumstance we beat LSU and curb stomp the shite out of Mizzou to end the year just FYI we are going to give him the fricking job and y'all are going to fricking like it.

I swear with the exception of LSU we have the most retarded fanbase in the country.
A) Its more likely that aliens will win the lottery than us beating LSU
B) Even if we did, he still shouldn't get the job, it would take a special kind of idiot to base the programs future on the result of one or two games.
