Awesome job in this by Lane Kiffin... I bet plenty of OM donors will happily help with that bullshite fine. The positives gained far outweigh the token slap by the SEC office that knows it's in the wrong.

If there's ever a time for someone like an Arkansas or an Ole Miss to stand up for itself it's now.

Looking at you Hunter Yurachek. You absolutely missed a golden opportunity, and hopefully you realize it.

Well...I gotta disagree. At the end of the day it was the same result for both Ole Miss and Arkansas. HY and SP are being men about it while Kiff and crew carry forward the frat boy mentality and out 2.5 million pennies.

I think OUR approach gives a better message to the players.

Lastly, we got far more pub out of our non-call then OM. We had everyone in the country claiming bullshite!

What did it accomplish exactly?

The call at Auburn did deny us 'another' chance to win the game, but we should have closed it out on our previous possession. We knew it was an opportunity to do so, with merely a first down, maybe two. Lost yardage on first down pretty much sealed our fate. Got to close out when you have the chance.

The lane train will be a fun train wreck to watch.

Glad it's there and not here

It's going to be the same result, so it doesn't really matter.

For my money, I wouldn't be surprised if Lane's approach has Ole Miss lay a total egg against Vandy this weekend because they're sulking after the loss and feeling cheated.

Pitt's strategy of 'it sucks, but we have to move on and focus on the coming games' went out and got us a win the very next week.

I think Hunter was wise.

That said, I like Lane spouting off, it’s like he’s doing the dirty work for us without us having an repercussions.

Clearly many don’t get it and that’s expected.

It’s what the SEC is counting on, and it’s proven out time and time again.

It’s not too much to expect well-spoken leadership to have the ability to call out an obvious injustice, and do so constructively with the minimum of decorum necessary.

But the public component is a must. Back-room discussions get Arkansas athletics nowhere but labeled as irrelevant. History and facts have proven this out.

So what do you think is going to happen now? What are the positives of this?

I really think this is more an issue with our fans projecting anger than it is a tangible issue. We've been screwed a million times throughout our history with coaches complaining about it. Yet here it is in 2020 and we're still getting screwed.

If you want to get calls by the SEC, you don't get them by complaining. You get them by bringing money into the conference. Winning gets you those calls. A bit of a paradox, I know, but that's the skids.

I’m gonna side with Lane on this one.

As much as I dislike him, I dislike the SEC as an organization more.

No we haven't been screwed a million times with coaches complaining.

We've been screwed and have 99% of the time said little to nothing about it. We're not alone in that - far from it.

You don't get calls by bringing money to the table in the sense you're referring to. You get calls by winning in the court of public opinion, the same public that ultimately brings money to the table.

You don't do that by confirming to the rest of the world you're willing to go along with the unconscious bias the media, the conference leadership and the officials they've hired to manage events foster in the general viewing (paying) public.

Say nothing - get the same results.
In the current environment it's a fact - games that matter in the SEC will be influenced given the opportunity.

Ok friends, Sam let it be known how he felt, how it was wrong in the appropriate manner. And he did so with vigor.

He also knows for a fact, that if he raises so much of a ruckus, it will come back to bit him/us later.

Yep, he is thought very highly of in the industry... and yes, it is an industry. Just watch the next few years how this transcends more than one major rebuilding season.

Well considering all of the non-Arkansas fans that texted me after the game along with the national media reaction, I'd say we already won the game of public opinion.

Lane can kick and cuss and spread pennies around like birdseed for all I care. At the end of the day, he's going to continue to get calls against him. Because he's at Ole Miss. And the only way to change that is to become a legitimate threat for an SEC title. If Ole Miss were 3-1 going into that game and ranked in the top 10, I think things might have been looked at a little closer.

Bitching about it on twitter and getting fined isn't standing up for yourself, it's showing your arse.

It happened and they changed the rule. There is no grand conspiracy. Let it go.

It shows immaturity

Believe I'll pass on having another loud mouth cry baby Bert kid as head coach. Being calm, subtle and leading through action goes further imo

I thought Sam got his opinion across at the sec offices from the sounds of it both unter and Sam laid into them on the bs privately though. Lanes tweet and bitch philosophy doesn't work long term just outs more money in the secs pocket via fines.

Letting someone know how you feel about it is office code for chewed someone's arse but respectful in public. I'm sure Sam is more pissed than any of us given his level of commitment
