Lets talk DC candidates.......

I know..... we all want Venables.... it's likely a pipe dream but who knows.... but say we don't get him. Here's a list of some names that the coaching community really likes.
No particular order
Jim Leonhard Wisconsin. #1 Total Defense #2 Run Defense
Chuck Heater Marshall #25 Total Defense #19 Run Defense
Scott Shafer MTSU #30 Total Defense #34 Run Defense
Pete Golding UTSA #7 Total Defense #25 Run D
David Duggan Southern Miss #17 Total Defense #28 Run D
Orlondo Steinauer Fresno State #16 Total D #15 Run D
Blake Baker La. Tech #64 Total D (Defense was much better last year)
Tom Allen Indiana #26 Total Defense (ranked #120 in total D when he took over.
I'm sure there are others but these jumped off the page at me. Specifically DC's that work for up tempo coaches like MTSU Fresno State.
Chuck Heater is interesting because Yurachek's son plays on that Marshall team..... easy nicknames.... Heat Seekers

I figure Chavis will be the hire. Coming to Razorback Stadium in 2018, 3rd & Chavis.
I am pretty sure Chavis doesn't recruit though, and I don't think that will fly with Chad.

Chavis has seen 19 players that he's coached at LSU selected in the NFL draft, including five in the first round

He wouldn't be gifted with 4 and 5 star recruits in state every year like he was with LSU and aTm. We need ace recruiters on the defensive side for sure.

Dude doesn't have any ties to the south that I'm aware of, but I think that dude at Michigan is one of the best. Brown is his name? He stepped in to Michigan with Harbaugh, with someone else's players, and had back-to-back-to-back shut outs in his first year.

Chavis is a definite possibility.
He may not recruit but he can evaluate with the best of them and knows how to build SEC defenses. Someone else can go get them.

My outside the box name will be Marion Hobby. He was at Clemson from 2011-16 as Co-DC/DE Coach. Now with the Jacksonville Jaguars as DL Coach
