It’s pretty simple. You have Atlanta and Florida. Then you have a brand everyone knows.

A reason why Saban has said if Georgia gets a coach who knows how to recruit, it’s the best/easiest program in the country.

The part I linked was him talking about schools that, “would like to win” but it’s not actually the no.1 priority and winning big is more of a cherry on top than anything else.

I see that being true. Winning consistent 10 win seasons would be a nice start.

With that being said, would you rather have 3-5 shite seasons and win a championship, then go back to 3-5 shite seasons?

Like LSU had? Or would you rather be a guaranteed 10 wins like Georgia was pretty much?

Bama is in a league of its own. The passion is so intense that it makes them mentally unstable like a crazed lunatic. That is why they have been so good because they will do anything to be good. They could steal money from charity if they had to. However that type of mental unstableness makes them never happy and miserable when they have an off year like 9-3. When that happens then Saban will have enough of it.

No program can compete with Bama that has fans that kill each other over a damn game. Look at how sick and twisted that is.

Saban has had enough, but he is the same. He consistently yells at fairweather fans for not showing up during the D2 blowouts and leaving early.

The problem that Bama will face in the post-Saban era is the pressure exerted on coaches.

Saban is a veritable sociopath and the only guy who could shrug off pressure and expectations the way he does. Alabama will still be Alabama, but they’ll revert back to the up and down volatility of the post-Bryant years once Saban retires.

I foresee a few Bill Curry type tenures where a coach bolts to a lesser job because of the stress.

This. That’s why I always say the “let’s be realistic about Arkansas” talk is poison. A good fanbase is an unrealistic one.

The second part is finding a coach who has an unhealthy obsession with winning. I honestly think Musselman is the only coach we’ve had in my lifetime in any major sport where that was unequivocally the case. DVH might be there too and just be better at masking it. I’ve seen him pretty surly after a loss. John Pelphrey had some of that in him but that’s all he had.

I’m not sure sociopath is the right word but he’s definitely not a “balanced” individual. I think it’s similar to Jordan, Kobe, Tiger Woods, Tom Brady etc. They didn’t get where they got by being well-adjusted and having a healthy perspective.
