Left a natty chance and easily first rd for a 2nd rd pick.

Coulda made 2nd rd money in NIL alone.

But I guess he just wanted to go pro and get started.

Nice. I was afraid he got bad guidance. Mock drafts are shite. Funny that they drafted Jalen and Jaylin Williams. That won't be confusing.

He was by no means guaranteed to be a first rd pick next season

He'd have to really fall off.

With the team we'll have just very very hard to see him not going first and probably lottery.

Never know. Injuries/illness/poor play or not standing out as much with so much talent around him. Don't mean that in a bad way, but there is only one ball. Will be able to develop faster by focusing on BB full time and not having to go through motions of being in college.

Maybe/Maybe not. Was any ponied up and guaranteed?
Can't question his decision at pick 34.

Oh you definitely can.

Portis and Gafford benefited greatly from returning versus 2nd rd grade the prior year.

JWill just wanted to go pro and get started. So be it. Him and Chet can talk about the Sweet 16 game.

JWill leaving definitely lowered my expectations for next year. I think we all need to expect that it could take this team a while to click

League min is over 1M. If he makes a roster, he made the right choice.

Agreed. Coming back doesn’t guarantee a huge jump in draft status and there’s always the risk that other players bump above him. Seems like he was pretty methodical with the process and can’t fault him for making this decision. Will miss him and he was an excellent ambassador for our school and basketball program.

Wasn’t Gafford still a 2nd round pick? I remember some Hog fans thinking after his freshman year he could/should have developed into a lottery pick

Can't believe Mike Anderson didn't develop him and convince him to stay another year

Worth noting that jaylin was the 88th ranked prospect and ended up 34th in the draft after 2 years. Moody was the 46th ranked HS student and ended up the 14th pick after a year. Isaiah Joe was the 170th ranked HS recruit and went from being on nobody's board to the 49th pick after Muss got here.

Gafford was the 39th best HS athlete and shook out as the 38th pick. Portis started as the 17th best HS recruit and ended up the 22nd pick after two years.

The development Muss is providing really shows if you dig into the numbers. Especially when comparing to other major programs. Schools like Duke and Kentucky have historicallly landed more but they aren't necessarily improving their draft stock there. In most cases it is weakening due to lack of PT. Muss is improving them and now he is actually landing some one and done types as a result

I don't understand this logic. Jaylin is a great team player, very athletic for this size, but he in no way looks like a lottery pick NBA big man.

You boys are crazy that slot gets like $3m guaranteed for making a roster. He was never gone make that in NILs. He for sure made the right decision

4 year $8.5m. Gonna miss having him but that’s the right decision and another notch on the Muss recruiting belt. And I believe we have an outside shot at 4 1st round picks next year.

Yes, Gafford had no outside game at all. Unlike Portis or Williams who shoot the 3.

JWill was loto pick with another year working on his 3. Is what it is.

Not being sarcastic. Agreed. But the only Junior I can think of who was a lottery pick is:
