It was pretty widely circulated that he wanted to hire Kiffin to Houston last year but was shot down by their Board of Regents.

If he still wants Kiffin, hopefully our Bot isn't dead set against him.

You've got to think that he knows this hire is crucial to him being here long term. If he pushes Kiffin and it's a trainwreck, he likely doesn't survive it.

I don't think it would be a train wreck. I think he is our best option. Just my opinion of course, but I would be totally thrilled with a Lane Kiffin hire. It would be a grand slam.

What’s noteworthy is recruiting violations have never been rumored around the Pirate

I'd think it's also noteworthy that particularly good recruiting classes have never been rumored around Leach. I don't get too caught up in recruiting rankings, because it can't tell you what you do with those you get, but ...

Texas Tech years:

2000 #44
2001 #54
2002 #34
2003 #71
2004 #39
2005 #38
2006 #28
2007 #42
2008 #75
2009 #39

Washington State:

2012 #58
2013 #50
2014 #53
2015 #42
2016 #56
2017 #44

So, his best recruiting class since 2000 was #28. In Texas.

True.

On the other hand, he is the best coach in the country at playing above his recruiting rankings. There is a certain appeal in that for a program like Arkansas for obvious reasons.

But I think it would still be in our better interest in trying to find a guy who is an elite recruiter. Over the long haul, if you want Arkansas to be a consistent contender in our conference you MUST improve our recruiting standings in relation to our conference foes.

I mean if any hire is a trainwreck, it isn't going to be good. You could argue it would be worse for him to hire Morris and not have it work out. Right or wrong appears that more are behind the idea of Kiffin than Morris.

What time does the Broyles Award thing get done? I’m guessing they’re showing that respect.

So, either we offered & he turned us down for TN, we didn't offer & TN did, we offered & TN didn't, he accepted either TN or Arky or neither, or it's altogether BS? Hilarious ... I'm betting Nutt now.

I think if Morris accepts the Tenner position it's because they are desperate to make a hire at this point and they simply offered him much more money than we were willing to. And I think it may have been a mistake for them to do so.

I don't think the new AD would take our job if he didn't think he could get his man. He's not coming here to hire Holgorson or Venables.
