So you’re saying the turnaround begins this season.

What’s the Over/Under? 4.5? That’s beating expectation I would say 8/10.
this is where I am at. But at the same time hard to rank a 7-5 season higher than a 7

I like to consider it with regards to what the immediate seasons prior have been. If we win 7 this year, the 1st year with BP, and the better LB's, and our Defensive staff... It would be a 8.5... Right?

If Bobby can work his magic you never know. I've never had more confidence in a coach than I do with Bobby.

His offenses have been a thing of beauty, and it seems like he could make any QB serviceable.

It will be interesting to see how his Lamar Jackson experience will help with Taylen.

This season would be a resounding success if we went 7-5 and split those games. I mean what is our realistic ceiling? 8 games? 9 if we get every single break imaginable?

We’ve been here before and we know that won’t happen to us. 7 would be amazing. I’m not holding my breath.

He said if you lose too many times to Texas then you're seat was getting hot. This was one of many reasons, not the only reason that Holtz and Hatfield didn't last long at Arkansas as they lost too many times to Texas. Doesn't matter how many good or bad teams they had. The hatred is what made Arkansas better and something they lacked in these fake rivalries.

Running off hatfield set this program back big time. And considering frank was 5-14 vs Texas this makes no sense. Our most successful time vs them has also been a "ehh" era of football overall for us.

I’m just really tired of losing to Aggies and mizzou. I view them as lesser programs. I mean I also view both Mississippi schools that way but ole miss and A&M have been much better than us nationally the past 10 years so what do I know

Indeed it did and Arkansas is still suffering from it.

Broyles gets more slack as he faced the pinnacle of Texas football during the Royal years. Remember Texas had more talent than any team during that era, more than Alabama who the Bear was winless against. It also helped Broyles that he won a NC and multiple SWC titles against superior Texas teams that unfortunately for Arkansas was stuck in a conference with.

Hatfield faced a Texas program that was in a decline when he got hired. So for the first time in I guess program history, Arkansas for a short period of time had more talent than Texas. However Hatfield lost to them in some very close and ugly games which angered fans at that time. Now to add fuel to the fire, in one Texas loss Hatfield said, "Jesus wept" and that really upset a lot of fans.

Before Frank Broyles arrived, Arkansas football history was a joke compared to surrounding programs of that time. So Arkansas didn't have standards or goals regarding any SWC opponent. When Broyles resurrected the program they finally had a standard and goal, that was beating Texas. Beating Texas meant winning the SWC and a trip to the Cotton Bowl, a chance to win a NC. Losing to them meant no chance of attaining those goals. Holtz and Hatfield struggled against them but Hatfield lost to a bunch of 7-5 and 4-7 Texas teams that put him in hot water Broyles and the fans.

And Hatfield left after back to back 10-2 seasons.
Frank's inability to not meddle and fans grumbling about the boring flexbone offense led to his leaving.

We also did exist before Broyles showed up. The 1909 Arkansas squad, the one that gave us the name of "Razorbacks" thanks to Hugo Bezdek probably had a better claim to a national title than anyone.

And... we also got really, really unlucky. We had the best young coach in the United States signed to take over the program... and then World War II broke out and instead of becoming the Arkansas football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant joined the Navy.

Still, before Broyles we had ups and downs and some of the ups were pretty high. And some of the lows were pretty low. Our absolute worst stretch of history? I hate to say it but we're in it right now. John L., Bert, Chad, and Pittman is the worst run of Arkansas football ever.

Arkansas had 22 losing seasons before 1959. More than all of the other SWC members. That was pretty bad.

If Bryant had went to Arkansas, it would have been a very short stay. If Bama didn't call then it would be another school.

I was one of the ones grumbling. Ken’s offense had a ceiling, plenty of wins, but no cigar. He had 6 seasons and his bowl record was 1-5. Beat the teams we should and lose most of the time to the rest.

I didn’t want him to leave, I just wanted him to pass the ball more to help open up the run.

There was a joke back then that he was always late to everywhere he drove to because he wouldn’t pass. He was and is a good man though and an important player on when he played.

I remember when people got mad when we played lesser teams and grinded it out wearing them down and running clock. Boring but effective.

Seems like now we feel like if we don’t blow them out it’s like a loss.

But you’re right, we’re not affective at either now.
