I would consider it a succesful year considering the
O-Line and Defense. Before the season, most pundits considered the O-Line as the biggest weakness and it played out that way.

I will consider it a successful year only if it's coupled with Smith and Segrest being gone.

as would I, but it's nowhere near worth settling for.

Not bad in a bit of a rebuilding type of year given all the production we lost on offense and the disappointing OL play.

There's a ton of improvement to be had to get over the hump and into the top tier of the conference.

Read today that we haven't been favored in a single SEC game until Mizzou

Does that mean we've overachieved?

All I can think is that the redshirt guys better be REALLY good or next year is gonna hurt.

I will consider it to have been a successful year. We'll have upgraded the win total each year (I do hate that we've regressed in the SEC win column), and we'll have done it with an absolute trash defense and an inconsistent QB and running game.

The downside is that we were frustratingly inconsistent all year, our losses were blowouts in which we looked like we didn't belong on the same field as our opponent (save for A&M), and our defense was one of the worst in the country despite returning nearly everyone from 2015.

I'd be thrilled with 9-4 considering how this season has gone, and because that's a record you can be happy with at face value as opposed to having to find silver linings.

Labeling Austin an "inconsistent QB" along with our other liabilities this year is a disservice. He's been extremely consistent except in a couple of outlier games. Instead of mentioning running game or QB play, I'd just lump that all under shite Oline.

As shitty as our OL has been all year Rawleigh is leading the SEC in rushing yards.

I predicted 8-4 regular season and it looks like that will happen. With the chance to go 9-4 with a bowl victory.

I would have taken that at the beginning of the season. It's just a shame that when we were beat we looked like horse shite.

I predicted 7-8 wins in the regular season, if we get to 9 with a bowl win, I will be pleased.

We still don't know who our bowl opponent is and if it's a HUNH unit then we are screwed. Can y'all imagine the season we could have had if our D was as advertised and our OLINE was even average?

The latest projection was Iowa in the music city bowl. Obviously that is just a prediction but I really like our chances if we get matched up with a mid tier, slow Big10 team.

By "inconsistent," I'm talking about the fact that he arguably hasn't been the same since Auburn. However, it was good to see him come out and have a terrific game against State.

And I agree, most of that is on the offensive line and Anderson's matador blocking scheme.

I would absolutely love this matchup.

My biggest fear is that we get matched up with a spread team like West Virginia or Oklahoma State.

If we go 9-4 I'd be happy. We will have continued to improve the win total and the more you win the easier it is to get recruits.

That having been said... if we return the same defensive staff next year, with one or two exceptions, change happy to dread.

9 wins is nothing to sneer at in the SEC.

Yeah, what worries me is that we're banking on 9 wins, but that's assuming we beat Mizzou and win the bowl game.

We could very likely have yet another shootout on our hands this weekend, and we still don't know who our bowl opponent is (my feelings on that game are entirely dependent on what type of offensive system they run).

Given how frustratingly inconsistent and bipolar this team has been all season, we could go 9-4 or we could easily end up 7-6.

Also, not to sound like a Negative Nancy, but we haven't won back to back games since mid-September.

I remember there being talk early that Heinrich (OL) might be pushing for playing time this year. Glad we were able to hold on to his RS even with our deficiencies there.
Ideally, I'd rather not hear a OL recruit's name in the two deep again until they are a RS Soph at least.

That concerns me a lot as well. We've gone blown out loss, look pretty good, back to blow out loss after the start of the season. This team cannot seem to handle success worth a damn.
