If we do hire Venebles, the biggest coaching gap on his staff won't be the offense.

It's a huge problem and why I'm hearing he got essentially let go at OU.

I remember Bama fans jokingly saying the same about Kirby Smart and how Scott Cochran spent practically half their games pulling his arse back to the sidelines.

0U fans were not sad to see him go, the majority were ready for him to go.

He was very much on the hot seat there.

Agree.

OU fans/boosters were glad he left for Clemson.

After a few years they were ready often for new assistants under Stoops.

Same happened to Heupel and Jay Norvell after a good run.

There was a personal hatred towards Venebles.

Like he kicked their dog or something.

I don't follow 0U but he was always under their skin in a bad way, when his name popped up in 07 they were saying we may as well burn the program to the ground if that was our hire.

Any time any coach leaves any program there are fans that are glad to see them go.

It's the same mentality that convinces hog fans they should bench the future NFL QB for whoever is behind him on the depth chart. Or sometimes for the guy that's behind the guy on the depth chart.

Venables builds defenses that win titles. That's a frickin fact, Jack. And it can't be argued around.

He's been on teams that have won titles, but I have no idea how you can attribute his defenses to having won those titles with a straight face.

No, Dale is right. OU fans hated him.

I really don't think his defenses were worth a shite at OU.

His first season as DC is when they got torched for 55 points in the Naty to USC

How many times did his defense sack Jalen Hurts in that title game last year?

Were there big differences in the offense OU ran when he was there
compared to what Clem is running?
