Sorry, didn’t mean to piss in everyone’s Cheerios. I guess I just got my hope up that for once we were gonna throw our chips down on the table and go all in on playing with the big boys. I’m becoming numb to this shite at this point.

all im sayin is there is probably some happy middle ground you could find here. this may not be what we dreamed about since we knew bert was gone but it’s intriguing in its own right.

You think our hire sucks. Try being Florida St whinjust hires Taggart. Dude has been coaching for 7 years and has only had 2 seasons with more than 7 wins.

Venables was the DC at OU for 7 years. Mike Stoops got canned at Arizona the same year BV’s defense has a bad year. Bob Hired Mike to be Co-DC. Brent left for Clemson

Interesting, I didn't know all of this, although I do know B. Stoops is a colossal asshat. ... I heard B. Stoops was campaigning for Leach earlier & wondered why he'd even have an interest in Arky HC. Obviously, Switzer might have some legit interest, but I wondered why Stoops was 'helping' him out with it. Maybe just trying to campaign against Venables? ... And let me be clear, I'm just speculating, wondering, & thinking "out loud." Doesn't mean I KNOW what happened or what's going to happen, or that what I'm thinking I'm presenting as fact. I suppose these days, one has to qualify & clarify every thought & word.

Two of the four head coaches in the CFP this year weren't even head coaches in 2015. One of which is in his first year ever as a head coach. You don't have to go out and hire Meyer or Saban to win. What you need is a fit with your program. I feel like Morris is a solid choice. When Jimbo flames out at Texas A&M and they come clamoring for Morris, it'll be easier to see we made the right choice.

I do believe that part. Thx for helping me off the ledge. I hope it works out, and I won’t bomb the guys twitter feed with gay aggy cheerleaders unless he starts to suck.

Posted in other thread by mistake:

Question is -- wonder how much Morris sold the "I'll get Venables to come be DC" to our PTB? Or, was this all a dream Grit had and passed around?

That year they let Venables go the big thing was they took a couple ugly loses to Mike Leach and Art Briles. Once Stoops got canned from his job, it became easy to sell to the Oklahoma fans that Venables was slipping. In comes Stoops.

Once Venables got to Clemson it was stipulated he was to be the highest paid DC in the country. So he was.

I imagine it would take the same thing to get him here. You have to make him the highest paid DC in the country. I don't even know who that is anymore, but I doubt we could entice him here for anything less than 2 million. May take more.

But I'm positive this thing has already been talked through.
