How bad does it get?

Another loss would put us at 1-3, a bad loss to A&M paired with stAte beating Toledo could be one of those perfect media storms where perception becomes reality and this season spirals out of control.

Toledo is favored by 7.5 at home.

I hope StAte smokes them. I like the pressure on Arkansas, the fan base wants to win!

They aren't playing in Little Rock so the Howly Wolves may have a shot.

Well it could be the tipping point that brings hordes of St. Louis kids down to JBro. and their enrollment explodes and the state's t-shirt fans start howling over wooing. The media will have to start giving time to Arkansas State and the frustrated C. Arkansas fans will start tailgating and brawling at stAte games.

State already recruits C. Arkansas and South Arkansas better than UA-Fay.

Winning beats losing at any level.

I mean how connected to either school is a Bubba from Nashville, AR. It's probably just as easy drive to JBro than Fayettenam from Texarkana. All the money in Texarkana is on the Texas side anyhow (tax benefits baby!).

The Hogs have gotten their asses kicked hard in the Texarkana area. NE Texas used to be a gold mine for us and since Petrino it's been a no-go zone.

The HogHold on the fringe fans in the state is diminishing, add in the population growth from out of state. Those folks getting the moneyed jobs have no true affiliation w/ the Hogs. They just go for the social scene, like many of the donors and admin. It's all about playing grab arse in the suites more so than winning football games.

It doesn't get bad.

The two or three fans they have in Jonesboro may be all excited for a few minutes.

Not sure what you are calling 'fringe', but the UofA is losing, and has lost, a good portion of south, east and southwest and to some degree, northeast arkansas. And they know it and don't care. You can't really call the UofA a 'statewide' program anymore.

Most UA students don't even come from Arkansas any more.
(This is a published fact)

I am a Hog fan, always have been, always will be - but not going to ignore the elephant in the room.

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette a couple of days ago.
See if I can find it on line...
You have to be a subscriber to access online edition, which I'm not so it makes it hard to link.
Will dig for other source.

Earlier this month, we learned that even though the University of Arkansas has the largest freshman class in its history, the overall number of students from Arkansas is down. This newspaper reported in a Sept. 11 news story: "Growth largely has been based on an influx of out-of-state students. This year's freshman class of 4,916 students continues the trend with 51 percent arriving from outside Arkansas."

At a time when the University of Arkansas has record enrollment, the number of Arkansans attending the flagship university is falling. That's disturbing on many levels. In the 2010 census, Arkansas ranked next-to-last nationally (ahead of only West Virginia) in the percentage of adults with a bachelor's degree or higher. That ranking is going to have to change if Arkansas is to ever move ahead economically in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century. Realizing the gravity of the situation, former Gov. Mike Beebe said the state should set a goal of doubling the number of college graduates in Arkansas by 2025. If the trend of declining numbers of Arkansans attending the university persists, trustees will take a strong look at whether the UA still appeals to young people in places such as the Arkansas Delta and south Arkansas.

Attracting the interest of young Texans in attending the University of Arkansas has been one of the reasons given for playing Texas A&M each year at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

FAYETTEVILLE - A University of Arkansas at Fayetteville program offering financial aid to non-Arkansas students from nearby states will expand next fall to cover Illinois residents, and the longstanding awards program is also revising its qualifying academic standards.
Non-Arkansas residents made up 51 percent of incoming freshmen this fall at UA, according to preliminary enrollment numbers. Enrollment continued a trend of overall student growth driven by out-of-state students...
