I think it’s more likely both werent interested. Or in the case of Leach, never considered.

According to who?

It was Mike Irwin that tweeted that a few days back. He’s been pretty solid throughout this debacle.

NO Arkiebrian, he wasn't... He was as far off as Otis and weighed a bit more to boot...

According to Irwin Leach was a serious candidate when he never was.

What Irwin was probably told about was a deal for Pittman to again have the Asst HC/with the HC in waiting tag this time with a huge salary to coach the oline under someone else in a deal Jerry/Tyson was putting together.

I don’t feel like I was mislead. We weren’t given much to go on and had to do our best to read between the lines.

Big money would have landed the big name. How much will it have cost if we find ourselves in the same position in 2 years? I hope not but we’re taking a chance on an Oline coach who has never been a HC before. My how far we have fallen.

I’m not pissed don’t feel the need to porn bomb or anything but this is a very underwhelming hire. Now putting BLJ in there - that would have warranted a porn bomb.

I have liked Pittman since we first met. He is an incredible recruiter and oline coach. If, IF and it is big I get... If he will be the CEO type and hire great staff..

He will do very well here imho. BUt at the least, we are not just a dumpster fire man, we are an 5 year old outdoor toilet lit up like a nuclear bomb. It will take time to deal with the fallout!

I’m sure HY saw something that I don’t and I hope for the best and hope Pittman can continue his great recruiting in Fayetteville.

Of course I’ll back Pittman if hired but I’ve learned that we will not spend the money to get a big name. Really thought we would considering the current state of the program. Supposedly Leach/Campbell wanted $5-$6 million and we refused to go there.

If true, it shows they don't give a shite about winning and aren't gonna spend the money to give top assistants. So why the hell would I donate and buy season tickets to sit and watch us get our shite pushed in while drinking a fricking Pepsi. BUT...that could all be conjecture and he was the best option willing to take the job. He is 60. He's old and DGAF. Could be to our advantage. He ain't got shite to lose except weight.

He has a budget of 8-10 mil per for a staff depending on the names presented including his salary.

Ditto.

It's not a splash name hire but we could do a hell of a lot worse.

Given the state of our program and the unenviable task HY had of selling this chicken shite job as chicken salad, I like the hire. He has a ton of SEC experience, is an excellent recruiter, and he'd rebuild our offensive line. Our program hasn't been worth a shite since he left for Georgia, and Bert's undoing started on the offensive line.

He'll be as good as the staff he can build if we give him the money to do it. Hopefully he hires a great S&C coach, who may arguably be his most important assistant hire.

Do you, did you prefer this over Kiff ?

Why? why not?

Who do you think will have more success in time?

That sounds about right. Time will tell if HY made the right decision. Kiffins attitude about it speaks volumes imo. Pittman's attitude is polar opposite, hungry and ready to prove himself. Ecstatic to be at Arkansas. Which goes a long ways towards being successful

Sounds like Kiffin had the big ego and we pulled the plug before it bit us later on. Kinda goes back to the whole first impression thing and knowing when someone is a good fit when trying to date them.

I think kiffen would be the splashy safer hire. I also think hes always been a slimy dude that we couldn't trust. I dont give a shite how god someone is at their job if I cant trust you I wont hire you, it's as simple as that so I dont blame hunter for that if any of that is true.

If all that is true I respect that. I was never sold 100% on Kiffin.

Which is fine if you want to call Sexton's bluff, but if he is your guy you don't pull your offer you tell him take it or leave it. 90% of the time Sexton has the schools outbidding themselves, this isn't a secret.

However, if your going to pull the offer you have a back up plan instead of being caught with your pants down as happened with HY.

This guy's idea of a backup is Butch Davis.

And then he complains about Pittman's age.
