Dude, The current SEC would dogwalk Nutts Teams by a bunch.... Except maybe a year, or 2... but they would win less

1998
1999
2001 (once Matt Jones started)
2002
2003
2006
2007

Those teams would all take 2024 arkansas to the woodshed

What year since 1992 have we had an easy schedule?

Last year.

We played maybe the worst power 5 team in the country for our mandatory OOC game

And lost

La Tech won 4 games
UAB won 3 games
we played UAPB

We played two of the bottom 3 SEC teams

Last season is as easy of a schedule as you will EVER get at Arkansas. Any p5 team with a healthy pulse finds a way to 8 wins

We won 6 games and a scrimmage in Memphis

Great point. Again, it’s not always outside of our control. Sometimes it’s not because we play Georgia, bama, Texas back to back to back. Sometimes we simply step on our own dick.

Nope, remember when folks thought having TAMU in conference would help greatly with Texas recruiting? And now with Texas in as well?

Maybe, maybe not... But they wouldn't take our opponents to the wood shed often enough. 1 win, perhaps with a generational talent 2 more wins... But nothing to write home about. Texas, LSU, Bama, GA, TAMU, ...nahhh

IMO, texas has some good skill players and defensive backs, but it seems there is a lack of toughness in the offensive linemen compared to the SEC states. Maybe it’s because of the style of ball they play down there. That’s just my perspective though.

aggie and texas get all these high star recruits who can’t get it done, it’s not like the old days, seems they have gotten soft.

what year did we play all of them? Closest I can think was the year under Bielema we played 4 of them. Nutt coached against some damn good lsu teams, need I remind you were coached by Nick Saban albeit not yet in his prime but still good enough to win a national championship. And Petrino coached multiple games against A&M always putting them in their rightful place beneath us. It’s only this odd thing you and some others are trying to do to somehow justify our awful football situation. You say Arkansas isn’t any good and really never was so no reason to try and change. Is what it is, don’t rock the boat and appreciate the 6-6. Don’t worry we will actually compete in basketball and baseball this just isn’t for us.

Honestly, Im just busting your chops...

Some, anyways. We have never been this behemoth however... And some act like we have been. We hit gold with Petrino to begin with and having instate players who were incredible at the same time. Petrino's recruiting was beginning to lag, taking a hit. And then he had to ride a Harley with a Harlot...

But, Nutt's teams were not fabulous. He would again, beat an amazing opponent... then lose to vandy, go to a bowl game and text his girlfriend, while losing to Bert... or was it Alvarez?

Anywho... Goodnight friends!

yeah no shite which is why I don’t understand why you and ultimate keep chirping about us never being able to win a natty in football. Hell I’ve never seen us win any natty in my lifetime, but I can remember us at least being respectable in football. That’s all I’m asking. Top 20-35 in the country. But those are teams that win more than 6 games.

The problem is we could be the 30th best team in the country but routinely play 6 top 25 teams.

fair, but that’s not what’s cost us the past decade. It’s losing to Okie lite, Texas tech, Toledo, San Jose state, western Kentucky, north Texas, ULM, Liberty etc. teams that have less talent than we do

We always forget about this when complaining about SOS. We play up to teams who are better than us down to teams that are worse. I hate to say it but they were right petrino would set us back 10 years. After his exit we fell apart and are just now barely back to nutt level success...

All I want is a coach that wins the games you should, doesn’t lose games you have in the bag, and wins the coin flip games. That alone is a 8+ win coach every year.

I think Mullens can do that. I think Lashlee can do that. I think Jedd Fisch can do that.

Glenn Schumann I wouldn’t be upset about either. Especially if he kept Bobby.

Merlins isn't going to do any better then Sam here, he was mediocre outside of one year that saw an epic collapse.

Couldn't recruit for shite to Florida.

The cherry on top is he is an absolute dick personality wise.

He's basically all of the bad traits of HCs post Broyles rolled into one. That said I'm sure he's near the top of hunter's list.

I guess it depends on how the revenue sharing shakes out. If the head coach doesn’t have to beg for money from boosters he might be ideal.

Personality doesn’t matter as much when players are getting paid. And mediocre at state is pretty good.
