What's everyone's guesstimate on when we'll finally hear something... today?

Wondering what the holdup would be at this point.

Supposedly Chavis is a done deal and it will be announced this week.

I don't think we're going to hire one or a defensive staff. We'll just hire ten offensive coaches and practice will go kinda like "offense get over here fast! We're gonna go fast! Go fast! Fast! Faster! Defense go run some laps."

Here's to hoping the aTm/Chavis contract, and the Aggots wanting to reassign, rather than part ways with Chavis, blows up what is reported as a done deal.

I'd just as soon have the most successful DII DC as Chavis.

its almost like they're negotiating a million dollar contract and their highest priority isn't getting the news out to spme jackass on a message board.

The whole HC process didn't take this long, did it?

If our defense is arse in 2-3 years I'm going to remind you that my guy could have sucked for a hell of a lot less money.

There is no legitimate reason that I'm aware of to think that Chavis will do well here. Is the shitty recruiting reputation bogus? Did his defense mesh well with an up tempo offense at aTm?

Certainly our defense can't get much worse, but what are we looking for, a defense just good enough to lose to everyone good?

In the last decade, spanning back to the beginning of his tenure at LSU in 2008, Chavis is 16-27 vs. ranked opponents, and has lost to no less than 2 unranked opponents per year since 2013.

Thank goodness we play in the SEC West, so we'll never see ranked opponents, right?

I'm so dumb, I won't really understand who won the games anyway, right?

When did Chavis become a head coach?

Fair enough, but in 20 of those losses, Chavis' defense gave up 30+ with LSU and aTm talent. He gave up 40+ in 10, and 50+ in 4. With talent he'll never have here.

Is Sexton doing this DC deal too? I'm sure he's just sucking the GOBN dry on this deal too.

They're waiting on A&M to officially fire Chavis.

Bro give him a chance. We've been clamoring as a fan base for coaches with long term SEC experience.

I know right! I can't believe people have the audacity to have different opinions than you on a sports message board. Ridiculous!

Huge difference in differing opinions and consistent melting over something out of our control.

Then you have daily questions about when will an announcement come and assumptions of how it’s hurting not having a DC named while the dead period lingers.

Dominos will fall when Jimbo names another DC at A&M thus firing Chavis and A&M paying him his money.

It’s always been about the contract extension that Chavis signed with A&M in August prior to the season. It was fully guaranteed through the 2018 season meaning next year.

Once they buyout him out if he comes here they will offset the buyout with what we pay in year 1.

From Chavis and our side if Chavis is our next DC it has never made since not to wait it out. Otherwise it’s stupidly throwing away millions for the sake of just having it announced. We’ve seen coaching changes and movement typically happen after in NSD in February so that timeframe shouldn’t be ruled out but I expect A&M will name a DC soon.

I don't mind the different opinions but we've hashed rehashed this thing so many times now.

they haven't named anyone.

we think the time frame is aTm related.

its probably Chavis.

he's a surprisingly controversial choice to the fanbase.
