The whole advantage of getting rid of a coach early is to get a jump on everyone else and lock your guy in. That's what good programs do anyway.
I’m not a HY fan but who’s to say we haven’t already done just that? There is no rule that once we lock someone down we can’t continue to interview other coaches.
I read a post on another board last night stating as much. Cant find where I read it now but basically stated we had our guy, and have for a few weeks, Franklin was smoke and everything else was just kicking tires, networking, etc. Again I hope that’s the case because that’s what a good AD should be doing during a search. Especially with coordinators who you want to track for the future.
Also you can’t just end the search, not release a name and expect people to not leak the details. So you continue interviewing and letting info leak to keep up appearances.
I’m also assuming we are good with moving the Mizzou game early so we can make the announcement after the game and get some media coverage that evening.

Pat Fitzgerald is gaining some strength and I wouldn't hate it.
If you can win at Northwestern you can win at Arkansas
And don't start with Big1G Bert, idiot was a blubbering alcoholic.

It’ll be Barry lunney jr and you’ll like it!

His last 4 seasons it says he went 3-9, 7-2 (Covid) 3-9, 1-11.

I'll burn every damn bit of my Razorback football gear and cheer for Alabama if BLJ is hired

Yeah, he's a good coach, but I think it would be a very tough sell to the fanbase considering how things ended at NW.

Also lacks sec experience and no big recruiting ties to Texas.

I agree you still need inroads to Texas. Don't know about ya'll but I like to fish in the best lakes myself.

Worked out well with Chaggie and all those "Texass recruiting ties"
Did you overlook that he won two Western Division B1G championships?

Chaggie sucked at smu. He was never a winner. That was our dumbass fault
Posted on 11/18/25 at 10:53 am to ArHog
You forgot to mention Chaggy was a high school coaching legend in Texas who was highly respected by Texas high school coaches.
So much so his best recruits came came from Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and everywhere else but Texas.

That means they are also free to take other offers like Kiffin with Ole Miss.

You have to still recruit. Every school doing well is keeping kids there multiple years and having good recruiting.

But IIRC some members of this board and the Hog media were slobbering on his nuts because of his Texass ties, who knew?

Yep certainly possible. But going back to JF he was fired after Pittman and although he wasn’t my #1 choice you’d be dumb not to at least have a conversation. But I don’t think he was ever our primary target and don’t see anything changing now that he’s off the board.
Just look at what gets reported and what doesn’t. Pretty sure we are controlling what gets leaked out (Coach O, etc) compared to what doesn’t. Assume there is a reason behind that and it’s not random.
Not giving HY credit for Cal but that came out of nowhere and they kept a tight lid on it until they were ready to announce.
