Literally the only good thing about hiring Gruden would be “winning the press conference.” Unless he did some major research and went into an interview like Muss did where he had a game plan for the entire roster then hell to the no. If we whiff on JF there are plenty of good options in play instead of a dude with 2 winning records in 20 years.

Gruden would bring in a TON of NIL money from real donors from what I’m hearing. I personally am not on the Gruden train. But he would bring the money. And money talks more than the NFL scandals. Recruits wouldn’t care about that. Tyson still wants Franklin. So I don’t think he’s out to the point previously posted. But Gruden is a legit contender, which I never thought I’d say.

I think winning games will bring more NIL than the initial press conference. Honestly just not sure Gruden still has it. Stale offense.

Franklin wouldn't be my favorite guy but really solid. If JT gets him and they line up the NIL he's asking for, could be a really great hire.

Both him and Franklin were supposedly a target during the search for Pittman

This is a different landscape from the Pittman hire. It’s eat or be eaten. Now more than ever. And that fallout plays bigger into more than just football. We can no longer afford to settle like we did before. Also, Pittman did what he was hired to do. He elevated the job. He got us back to a respectable level. Now it’s up to the donors to take the next step.

Look what OM has done since the Kiffin hire… NC in baseball, Chris Beard… Football breathes money into everything. And the boosters see that. A little John Tyson money injected into the football program will lead to more money in the basketball program. We may see another NC there when it’s all said and done if the the whole state is on board with NIL.

This is the theory and this is what I’m hearing.

IMO faith is pretty low that a hire will happen that can actually do that.

Being burned by the hires since Petrino will do that

Hope they prove everyone wrong

It goes back longer than that.

Fire Holtz to hire Hatfield over Jimmie.
Run Hatfield off to pull his OC Crowe off the plane.
Fire Crowe to bring in Danny Ford as a consultant. Ford is given the HC job, first action fire Houston Nutt.
Fire Ford to hire Houston Nutt over Tuberville.
Refuse to fire or run off Nutt for actions and record that led to the previous three being shown the door.
Have Jim Grobe accept the job, then change his mind, hire Petrino.
Fire Petrino and spend almost year to hire, Bert.
Fire Bert, chase after Franklin and Gus only to hire Chaggy.
Fire Chaggy chase after Franklin and Gus to hire Pittman.
Fire Pittman to chase after Franklin and....

Money is more tangible than faith in this day in age of college athletics. If the powers that be want to see us succeed, they have the backing to do it now more than ever. I don’t believe we will ever win a championship in football in my lifetime. But we have the backing to make a playoff and win in basketball and baseball right now as long as we make the right hire. And I believe we have the right donors to back someone BIG to get that done right now.

Asinine. I haven’t heard him on any of the short lists from other “insiders.”

List appears to be:

Franklin

Fleck
Kingsbury
Will Stein

Golesh

So it will probably be none of those

Gruden is 3rd on the list, he has supporters among money and if Franklin decides on VT I wouldn’t be shocked if we move quickly to him.

They’ve been right about things before. Doesn’t mean they will be this time. I just find it odd that they don’t even mention Gruden at all if he’s truly on the short list

If it was gruden why don’t they announce it sooner rather than later? Then again, no one else would hire him and we could probably get him for a discount so that tracks.

What makes you think that the PTB wants to see us succeed? Have you not paid attention the last 12 years?

The Chaggie and Pittman hires weren't made in the interest of winning championships. They were terrible hires anyway you slice it.

Wake me up when Arkansas gets serious about the sport of football.

Gruden and Franklin

That’s because they are legit retards, who only buy brand names. A fool and his money are soon to part. This is just Jerry Jones bullshite, I was good at football and played back when it was only the right people, so now I definitely know what I’m talking about. No. The game has past most these people by, stick to what you were good at making money in. Back the program and threaten to remove the money when they suck and won’t make changes.

Perhaps it is retardation, but brand names bring the money. See Calipari.
