I wasn’t sold on Bobby until last weekend, but everything we would need from Mullen, we would need with Bobby. He is just 10ish years younger and a bigger dork.

I mean, at the end of the day you just have to determine the below...

Is BP better than Mullen?
Is BP better than Odom?
Is BP better than Silverfield?
Is BP better than Traylor?
Is BP better than Sumrall?

Assuming that BP is more involved in the defense and the players selected in the portal, my answer to all the above would be yes, he is better than all of those listed.

The question then becomes, if say a James Franklin is interested in coming to Arkansas...is BP then the better option or no? I would lean no.

I’d say equal to or better than the first 3… Traylor and Sumrall are a shrug. So we can get BP cheaper to be at least equal to all but two.

James Franklin has the yips against decent teams, so I’d say Bobby is much better in that aspect.

But is he really? If we look at his first tenure, he never beat Alabama and the season where all three of us were ranked in the top 3 of the BCS, we got throttled pretty good by both LSU & Bama.

In this day though, 2 losses in the league gets you into the playoff.

I would lean Franklin just because he is younger and he will be much like Coach Cal, with a chip on his shoulder. Which certainly Bobby may have as well, but then I fall back on the age again.

Either way, I dont think either of them is a "bad" choice.

My only defense is that they were heads and tails above everyone else those two years. He had us ready for OSU and had Joe Adams caught the ball on that first play, I think we win. There were a bunch of other things that went against us, especially Cam Heyward I believe it was got way out of position and accidentally got the game winning TD.

I think the atmosphere at the Sugar Bowl got to them. BP dialed up the right play to start the game and we just missed. There were several other plays like that in the first half. We came out the second half and shut their asses down. Then we manhandled KSU at the Cotton Bowl the next year.

I could see Bobby getting a 1 or 2 year deal at this point, there are just so many coaching openings and it might be better to settle for a safe short term commitment

I would expect 4 years, but if he'd settle for year to year and he succeeds, it could work out really well for him, but would kill recruiting. I'd say 4 years with no buyout on our part. I think he's willing to play ball since he's really got no other big time options. He don't have time to go off and build a resume. This is his last chance at a program he knows he can win at and has the resources for him to really win if he gets the money to buy in.

I think the money has already picked him, but I don't know shite.

I don’t think you can do that even with the ability to transfer everywhere every year. Still can’t sign high school kids when a coach has 1-2 years max left on his contract.

It started as soon as Pittman was fired, I 100% believe it’s coming from the Lindsey family. Their grandson is the Minnesota QB.

Obviously the season needs to play out, but at the moment I think that we likely have our HC. I think the kids are already playing harder, we just don't have the horses on defense. Getting a couple linemen back will help a great deal.

The pros and cons of Petrino have been beat to death elsewhere.

I just don't see us competing for any of the coaches that MIGHT be better than Petrino given the other openings.

What we SHOULD be doing is piling up a warchest for the best DC in college football to go alont with Petrino....and an outstanding GM....ideally a former successful coach...that'll be Petrino's call.

Personally...I suspect all that was already discussed when Sam hired Bobby.

I just don't see us entering these waters in earnest and coming out with someone we're happy about.

Weren't we in this same damn position in the last coaching search?

You either pony up or take the cheaper route by allowing Bobby to take over.

Take Bobby now. Either win and be happy or be looking again in 3-4 years when half the P4 isn’t also looking at the same time.

I don't hate the PJ Fleck idea but I think we can do better.

I'm in the BP camp for now.
