Hat take: our offensive line is elite but Taylen is actually a bottom tier qb who can run. Why else does our offense go completely dormant in the 2nd half? Once petrinos script is done green is worthless

A lot of teams missed on Cignetti coming out of JMU. Don’t think anyone saw this run coming.

goofy arse merlins it's a classic south park douche or turf sandwich choice, so give me a douche Petrino over the field at this point.

This. Show me some one better that wants to be here and that we can get and keep, I'll get on board. The last few games of the year will tell the tale.

But our defense is weak, slow and small. Running backs just bully us. I just really want to see what Petrino can do with some money and a little time. I may change my mind by the end of the year, but I think a big portion of our second half woes is conditioning. Hopefully, we'll see that improve as the year goes on, but the off season is where you build champions.

Regardless of whatever happens, there has been definite improvement on defense. Just don’t have speed to keep up with those WRs

Yep, if we were still riding with Sam and TWill et al, today’s score would’ve been UGLY.

The second half says hello.

Not a jab at you because they have been mostly really good other than today. Just very coincidental that you said that and then the second half happened.

frick it, outside of a no-brainer hire(not likely to happen anyway), give me Petrino and a competitive NIL budget.

I agree. He’s got good arm talent and speed, but he just struggles so much to play within the timing of the offense consistently. He also has pretty bad instincts in terms of when to step up and when to leave the pocket. If he didn’t have elite speed to bail him out, those decisions would look so much worse.

Regardless we could still win with Taylen if we had an average defense. Sadly we don’t and won’t. Everyone talks about how bad a defense Tennessee has but those guys were so much more talented than us up front. We just don’t have the depth we or even the first string talent to compete.

I appreciated the defense showing effort today at least

I killed a few of my remaining brain cells by slumming it over at Shitville to see what the experts have to say. Seems there are a few experts that think Jimbo may be the answer. I'll go smash my nuts with a hammer right quick.....

That’s crazy. They’ll regret that in a few years.

it’s what people said about Georgia after richt. But in reality it’s just what schools with standards do. Texas and Tennessee were the same way. Yeah they might’ve ran through a bunch of coaches in a 10 year span and Penn state might as well, but they refuse to settle for mediocrity. Which is what any respectable program does. When you make The standard playoff or bust, eventually that’s what you get.

kirby wasn’t Kirby when they hired him and yeah I know they were in the playoffs last year but the team clearly quit on him this year after Oregon and I guess they’d seen enough 9 win seasons where they couldn’t get over the hump that they decided no point in delaying the inevitable.

His awful record against their rivals and in big games is what did him in. I think the Richt comparison is pretty accurate. Though it’s going to be hard for them to get past Ohio State and Michigan no matter who the coach is.

This is what’s wild. The dude was playing for a shot at the national title six games ago. Seems like a bit of an overreaction in an era where he could go out and buy a title team this offseason. I get his record versus rivals but he still had you right there.
