I would actually know your viewpoint.

Could this bill could help/hurt our Razorback athletic program

I have my opinion, but want to hear your opinion/discussion on this bill.

It helps me ...so it could only help the program.

Mfj standard deduction is 24k now. That means even more people will take the standard deduction. You have to itemize before charitable deductions count

I wasn’t going to start discussion without getting a vote on allowing/vetoing the discussion.

It impacts us all, so I would assume it will impact Razorback athletics.

I don't see any way that keeping more of my money is ever a bad thing. The only people against this are the same folks who would prefer socialism or hate the President.

It'll end up as a tax hike for most Arkansans, so it's a pretty bad thing.

Well we would probably want to discuss it as Arkansans rather than Texans.

Please give your reasoning for this being a tax hike, not the talking points CNN gives you but a true financial explanation.

Basically from what I understand the provisions for middle income earners ends in 8 years, so it will decrease taxes for that time period but it will end up raising % taxes for most of the middle class in about a decade. This isn't SJW bs, it's basically universally accepted among economists that's what's going to happen

Since when is 25-30% most?

Any tax cut will have an end date, but they can be extended. Do you really think the party in power in 2027 will let the cut expire?

Nope as it is written in the bill now the corporate tax cut doesn't have an end date, just the middle class tax deduction.

I need a little clarification on this number. Do you mean 25-30% of the middle class or 25-30% of all taxpayers?

If it's the Republicans hell yeah, they'll come after SS next, in order to reduce the deficit and not have to re-adjust the corporate tax rate.

This scare tactic has been used for as long as I can remember. Seniors will be eating dog food. Millions will die in the streets

May have implications for our stadium bonds, and bonds in general if debt financing becomes less attractive

the only real difference it may make is that.. if I am correct, and it may have changed.. But, at one point gifts to athletic foundations were not longer going to be tax deductible. So a BM donor would lose that % of write off/deduction.. Is this still correct?

as for the rest of it, I am afraid that SS will be hit soon. As long as we have paid into the program, we should get the benefits. It truly is close to insolvent in the coming few years

All I can go off of is pure speculation but my opinion of the new tax bill comes down to.

1) Will my employer's new windfall become my own? E.G. My boss comes up to me and says I got to keep more of my money and now I want you to have some of that money.

2) I get the opportunity to actually read the damn thing.

3) This year's tax return compared against last year's.

I'm am firmly in the middle class and both sides of the aisle have a history of fricking me so I'm not going to hold my breath on this benefiting me direct.

I’m still waiting to die from leaving the Paris Climate agreement, Trump eating 2 scoops of ice cream, the 2 big oil pipelines, repealing net neutrality, Russian collusion, new President, Lil Rocket man stating WWIii because of a tweet.....

And that is just what I heard on CNN, last night
