Texas' issues have nothing to do with talent or coaching. Their locker room has a cancer that has been there for years. Kids giggling about getting chewed out over a loss on the bus and recording their coach flipping out isn't some random issue. There are fundamental problems at that program from the mental aspect all the way to the field. Texas is fricked until they find their Pittman no matter how much money they throw around.

So you are telling me Texas was more talented than Arkansas in that game? Arkansas could have played that game any place in the nation and Arkansas would still win. Just by the skill positions by itself Arkansas was a lot better with 333 yards rushing. Texas was two years removed from beating Georgia and won eight games in 2020. So it isn't like the players weren't already developed under Herman but they just lost to better team in Arkansas. Both programs were already developed and had experience or the media wouldn't have ranked Texas that high. But the problem is that Arkansas was underrated and overlooked in the entire 2021 season. Texas played very hard in that game because it was close going into the half but Arkansas eventually overwhelmed them and they couldn't keep up. I don't see any starters for them that could start over any of the starters for Arkansas. They lack talent and they don't deserve to be propped up just because they are Texas.

People need to stop looking at recruiting ratings and take them as the gospel truth. Ratings can not only be wrong but biased as well. They follow the offers on each program and evaluate the players based on the prestige of said program. Texas is constantly kissed on the arse and told they are superior just because they are Texas. Because Texas is a large state and bring in the money from tv viewership, the media will cater to who brings in the most money and Texas is the golden goose. It is all fun for the fans but they still need to play the games to get a general idea of what a person is looking at. They need to watch the games or watch each position individually and see if they pass the eye test. Texas didn't during the game and were proven to be frauds because the media loves that golden goose.

Saban was asked if he was interested in the Texas job but he said that he didn't want to go through another rebuilding job. That should tell you that Saban sees the lack of talent in Austin. I can ask my friend who has been an NFL scout and works for the CFL who was talented between the two and I can almost guarantee that he would say that Arkansas has more talent. So yes less talented teams do win but not often against more talented teams. The cream will rise to the top and Texas just didn't have any cream on that team.

I hear this all the time from entitled fans like Texas about how they have more "talent".

What they mean is they had more stars coming out of high school. IMO their recruits are vastly overrated and it's the main struggle Texas has.

Let's call it what it really is: potential. Their players may have more potential but ours were far and away more talented. We pushed them around in every phase of the game. Their qb missed throws. They didn't have a weapon like burks or kj. We dominated the lines of scrimmage.

Aggregate recruiting rankings are very accurate. There’s a reason the teams competing for national championships more or less exclusively recruit at the top.

One of the reasons is they bump the ratings after they get offers from elite schools

Remember when Burks was a 5 star? I do and he got bumped down to a 4 star when he didn't play the recruiting games. Then when he committed to Arkansas, he fell even more down the rankings. But you can bet the house if he committed to a school like Alabama then he would'nt have lost his status as a 5 star.

Listened to a guy from 247 on a podcast, he said this wasn’t true. So he did a mailbag the following week and said he got about 20 questions from every school without a 5 star in the top 30 with examples of this happening. He still denied it.

I remembered it was after his sophomore season at Warren. It was very brief and his ranking began to drop. I don't remember if it was either 24/7 or Rivals but it was one of those two. I went to one one of his games against Pea Ridge during that year. My friend who is a general manager for a CFL team told me he would get drafted in the first round. So he should have stayed a 5 star.

There's a much different and palbalble level of rivalry in the border area of the state by LSU fans. You live among them. You go to college with them. You go on trips with them. Etc.

And although both fanbases are basically in the outer rim of their respective territories, and each the furthest away from their respective campuses you can get while still remaining in the state, the level of hatred for one another is quite strong.

Lots of crossover there in SW Arkansas... Lots. With the chemical plant and oilfield jobs so abundant in that area lots and lots of workers from northwest LA are employed among the SW Ark natives. And therefore, lots and lots of infighting.

The LSU game in LR was always so heated during the Nutt years because all of those people could get to a game very easily, and Nutt seemed to have their number many times.

You have a lot of hate on the Southeastern part of the state with Ole Miss.

LSU games in Little Rock on the day after Thanksgiving were special. The crowd was always electric. Always a good contingent of LSU fans there.
Miracles happened there.
