Reckon so.

btw, when was this supposed golden age where people didn't pay taxes?
Didn't say that, but there was no income tax before WW1. So roughly from 1776 to 1914 a citizen had to cut the government a check, or send in their cash for their tax bill. Since then, the government has just taken theirs off the top, as if the money is theirs, and they are just sending you what they allow you to have. Maybe you should ponder what exactly you would do, if the federal government decided to increase withholdings 500%. You could bitch about it. You could quit your job. You could vote for different folks in the next election. But the one certainty is, you can kiss that money goodbye.
Sure, it will never happen. The federal government would never spy on their own citizens, murder their own citizens with drones, or deny their own citizens the right to keep and bear arms either, right?
ETA: 5 down votes, and not a single response. Truth hurts, I guess.

I'm flagging this thread. Leave politics on the poli board unless it's Arkansas specific y'all.
I agree. The only politics that need to be discussed is LR vs NWA.

From anti gay anti abortion to pro both to changing stances on health care foreign policy and even women’s rights. She moves to whatever her voter base moves too. She isn’t a democrat she’s a politician. She is the definition of a career politician. Stop saying she would’ve been 10,000 times better than trump. You are in here the king out insults to whoever has a different lobe of thinking by you and are very much fitting the stereotype right now that a lot of stupid far right wingers make about the left being nothing but whiny snowflakes. Your better than that
But she would have been 10,000 times better than Trump.

I don't have a problem with this thread, actually. And usually I'd be the first person to tell people to keep the politics to the political board.
It's just, at this point, I do think people should talk about this. Or at least have the option to talk about it among their peers. We are all Arkansawyers here (for the most part) and these issues are quickly becoming an issue for the entire country. Just today one of these lawmakers up there said that we need to get this show on the road so they can hang the president. shite you not.
These are extraordinary times IMO and if people don't want to talk about it, don't click the thread. It isn't too difficult of a concept.

No, sorry, the two parties aren't equivalent. Democrats actually want to advance social programs and don't nominate con artists as their nominee.
Again, though, I love the "but what about Hillary!!!!". Hillary lost, stop talking about her. This is all on Trump and the GOP.
How any middle class or above white male could favor the Democratic Party these days is beyond me unless they’re an economically illiterate, socialist, literal cuck who doesn’t give a shite about the 2nd Amendment, illegal immigration from the south, or influx of Muslims into this country that can’t not coexist with Islam.
What exactly is it that Trump has done that’s so awful? When you say “This is all on Trump” what are you talking about?

Crooked's the one who needs to shut up.
She thinks she won. And she constantly bitches about it.

The Democrats either have a case or they don't. If they do not, as I strongly suspect, they need to collectively shut the frick up and get back to their jobs. And their job isn't investigating the president in search of a crime.

I may be wrong but I do believe HRC will use everything in her bag of tricks to get on the 2020 ballot.
Having said that, who do you honestly believe can, or will, beat President Trump in the 2020 election?
Seriously.

So you think the Republican party cares about you?
News flash: NONE of these politicians give a frick about you; NONE. The only ones that care even a little about you are at your local level.
When you rise to that level of power you don't get there by being a "good person". Even if they had good intentions going in they've made so many deals they've compromised what they may have actually believed in the first place.
Their only goal is to keep getting reelected. If it comes down to you vs them. It will be your arse on the line EVERY time.
I want to believe that once upon a time people actually got into politics to help people and make positive change. However, in today's modern political spectrum the cycle of corruption has gotten so bad the only goal is to keep getting votes above all else.

It is the American people who vote in general elections, not the political parties.
Fact of the matter is that if it was strictly up to either major political party to elect our President, Donald Trump would more than likely not be President. But he is. And there is a valid reason that he is.
There remains a very large portion of Americans who can still think for themselves, outside the box, and they do not vote strictly along party lines. They vote for the candidate they believe will best serve our country and in the best interest of all Americans. Because a huge number of Americans are sick and tired of partisan politics and its divisive nature.
In light of all the the shortcomings of any other political party, the Democratic party of today, especially playing the game of identity politics, has completely lost sight of this fact and is moving in a direction and position whereby it has alienated itself into a web of its own making. And apparently, it is nowhere close to figuring this out.

Hillary would have been a respectable president.
Without diving too deep into the rest of the shite flinging in this thread, this statement is just asinine. Are you familiar with Hillary Clinton at all? There's a reason she lost to Donald M-Fing Trump as the most qualified candidate ever on paper.
I don't understand how the Democrats don't realize they just made a huge mistake with the impeachment. In the end it's going to do nothing and mean nothing, other than galvanizing the Right and sending moderates tired of the Dems' bullshite over to the Rs.
Calling it now, Trump will have a larger margin of victory in this election. When the likes of Toddy have bailed on the Democratic party because he can no longer defend their actions, they done fricked up.
I plan on sitting back and laughing.
