We could have beaten Memphis by quite a bit more. Granted, it's an exhibition but if that's a reflection of their team, they're not in the same area code as us

Need Davion Thompson to force Cal to play him at PG early and often. He's smaller, but tough. Makes the right play whether it's passing or shooting. There will be occasional freshman turnovers, but you can live with that.

JSJ needs to play off the ball more until he can get a feel and adjust to the college game. For him to be successful he needs to drive to the basket when he has lanes, go up strong, draw fouls and make tough shots around the rim. I'm not sure he will ever be a good perimeter player, his mechanics need some work.

His defense, steals, rebounding will keep him on the floor even when he's not shooting very well. Which is fine. There's plenty of offense around him where he doesn't have to be a 20ppg type player.

I agree with you on this. Davion looks way better than I expected this early. I will say Curtis Wilkerson - who I think has to great basketball takes - doesn't see Davion taking on a big role early on.

We'll see. I'm more inclined to agree with you. JSJ isn't going to be a true PG. The question is - is his shot good enough to play off the ball and keep defenders honest on the perimeter? If not, he's going to be taking the bulk of the minutes at PG because of his defense.

51 turnovers. Phew. I know our WBB coach wants to run a high pressure scheme but goodness, that's a lot.

A lot of empty seats at the bud.

It's been a problem since Hunter took the loyal attendees seats away.

Apparently the empty seats pay more.

Expect to see similar in baseball until sec play on the weekends.

While we are big, we still are undisciplined on defense.

Kenny Payne is not a good coach.

He's a frustrating player to me.

Super talented kid. But as a guard, especially a 6'2" guard, you have to be able to shoot the ball this day and age.

Our half court offense is gonna look terrible at times this year. So hopefully the defense will make up for it.

I get that but it’s the season opener for a team with a lot of positive buzz.

JSJ isn't quite under control yet. I expect the game to slow down for him at some point and him to start finishing these drives and mid range shots.
