100% and let's keep going. Two quality pickups and we have some many spots to fill, especially on defense.

Okay, so Carius Curne. What happened with Arkansas?
From when I first heard Carius' visits would be Georgia (Jan. 3) and Arkansas (Jan. 5) I felt decently confident in the Hogs' chances. Obviously it's Georgia, so that's that.
Once the paperwork shenanigans went down I made a call automatically assuming the Georgia visit would be scraped and he'd head to Fayetteville on Jan. 5 or 6. When I was told his first visit was Ole Miss (I've said this to a few people), I gulped like I was about to get my arse kicked by the neighborhood bully. I pretty much felt it was over by that point. To me, visiting Ole Miss was more detrimental to Arkansas' chance than Ole Miss. Just my opinion.
Not only is it much closer to his home town of Marion, Ole Miss is a CFP semifinalist and Arkansas won two games. That's the first thing. Also, Frank Wilson can not be emphasized enough. Golding's a dawg in recruiting, but IMO Wilson is the best recruiter in the country.
Wilson and Carius' previous LSU relationship played a key role in this, no question. Why did Arkansas not get him to campus? I didn't ask that question directly, but after all that I just mentioned can you realistically blame him? I do know for a fact that Arkansas coaches were trying to get in touch with Carius late last night and – at that point in time – to no avail. The deal was done and he was a Rebel.
We can say it was NIL or this or that. Ultimately, I feel like Ole Miss won out because of previous relationships and the program is in much better standing. The money may not have hurt, too.
I am beyond happy for Carius. I covered his entire prep career and I wish him the best. Now, we move forward.

Honestly, other than being a home state kid, he didn't exactly look like an elite player.... sure he has potential.... but he was about money and not home state pride... so lets find guys with a chip on their shoulder.

At the end of the day, he clearly didn’t want to be here and growing up in Arkansas had no affect on him. He feels no loyalty to the state or the razorbacks. Just because you’re born in Arkansas doesn’t make you a fan, especially since kids that are in college today were either shitting in diapers or still in their daddies balls the last time we were relevant

yup.... a lot of these kids ain't like we are....

The harm that’s been done from the administration letting the program wander in the wilderness for so long cannot be overstated.

Also I can’t stand portal rankings. In what world is Geffrard a 4-star portal player
Also a kid can be a 4-star out of high school, not play any or much his freshman year of college, and basically automatically drop to a 3-star due to that lack of playing time. It’s not like he’s any less talented or skilled than he was out of high school. Makes no sense to me.

I understand it's frustrating to lose in-state talent, especially to another SEC school.
Not everyone wants to go to college in their home state. I was an out of state student who chose Arkansas to experience living elsewhere vs. going where everyone else from my high school would be going.
And yeah, our sucking arse over the last several years has hurt us with the better prospects. We haven't been relevant in forever as far as they're concerned.

He’ll be in the portal again next year as will most of these money hungry mercenaries.

Honestly, not getting Curne might not be a big deal. He may have been processed. Was LSU’s line actually that good?…

Don’t think downplaying Curne is the play here. We would’ve been thrilled to have him.
Onward & upward. Pretty sure we end up with that other former lsu offensive lineman.

Good point. If anything just for rankings and to troll the Tiger King.
I’m hoping our IT-like cycle of dormancy is over and we’re ready to start feasting. Honestly, I just feel bad that there’s so many people who have never seen us field a decent team. I was lucky and in school for McFadden, Jones, Hillis, and just right out when BP hit The Hill. Those were fun times - I remember when opponents were scared shitless of Petrino.

Frank Wilson is the reason Curne is at OM.
We also beat out Ole Miss for the kid from Tulane.
