Not necessarily but I think we only took his commitment because it was widely believed Washington was gone. Once he decided to stay, it made playing time much less guaranteed.

Plot twist…KJ moves to TE, that’s going to be his money position in the NFL, Hasz and KJ in a Petrino offense will be nasty. Washington slims down a little, and moves outside (ala “reverse” Chris Gragg) and that leaves no room for Genross

I’ve said that 1000 times, but it won’t happen here. First interception, the whole stadium will boo our QB and call for KJ to be back.

Former Tennessee defensive back Doneiko Slaughter has committed to transfer to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Slaughter, 6-0, 190, is a Roswell (Ga.) native who can play cornerback, safety, or nickel with his final year of eligibility,

“I love the defense here,” Slaughter said. ”The defensive staff, they're not new. They know how to develop guys. I have a good connection here with the coaches, that's for real. That's a big thing for me going into my last season. I've got to make the most of it. The coaches will be developing me throughout the whole process.”

Slaughter played in ten games for the Vols this season, recording 32 tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss before announcing his decision to transfer on December 10. While his visit may have been shorter than the usual 48-hour stay, it was more than enough for Slaughter to feel comfortable in Fayetteville and playing for head coach Sam Pittman.

As a sophomore in 2022, Slaughter posted 31 tackles, 6 pass break-ups, and an interception in a dozen contests. He had 16 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and a sack in 11 games in 2021. As a true freshman in 2020, which did not count against his eligibility, Slaughter produced 8 tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack.

Slaughter was a highly-rated three-star safety out of Roswell High in the Class of 2020 when he chose the Volunteers over Miami, Arizona State, Mississippi State, Maryland and several others.

Slaughter isn't the only former Volunteer on Arkansas' transfer radar, as the Hogs are also very much in the mix for offensive lineman Addison Nichols, who is expected to visit Fayetteville this weekend. Nichols is seen as a center/guard for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas landed one of its top priorities in the transfer portal on Friday when San Jose State offensive tackle Fernando Carmona went public with his commitment to the Razorbacks. Carmona's decision first leaked via his brother's Instagram late Friday evening, and the transfer confirmed to HawgSports via message that he's fine with it being made public.

Carmona, a 6-5, 315-pound left tackle with two years of eligibility remaining, chose Sam Pittman's Hogs over three finalists in BYU, Auburn, and UCLA. The lineman visited the Bruins last weekend and was expected to visit the Tigers following his two-day stay in Fayetteville, which began Thursday, but his abbreviated visit on The Hill (VIP) was enough for Arkansas to seal the deal.

"This experience was second to none," Carmona said in his post-visit interview. "Fayetteville is something else."

The addition of Carmona is a big one for the Razorbacks, who ranked 129th nationally in sacks allowed and 91st in rushing this season. Carmona quickly became one of college football's most coveted offensive tackles after entering the portal on December 4. In addition to his four finalists, the Las Vegas native also held offers from South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Michigan State, and others.

Some of Arkansas' current commitments and remaining targets in the Class of 2024 were included in the latest Top247 rankings, which were updated and released Monday afternoon. While the transfer portal targets continue to receive most of the attention, there were some slight moves with the Hogs' high school targets in the first rankings update since October.

Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield made another move up the rankings in this round, going from 57th to 51st in the country one day before he's set to make a final decision. Crutchfield de-committed from Arkansas just minutes before the Razorbacks kicked off against Florida in November, and Missouri is still considered a strong favorite to land his verbal pledge at 10 a.m. Tuesday. LSU and Auburn are also listed as finalists for the receiver.

Arkansas' highest-rated commitment in the latest rankings is Crutchfield's cousin, four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins of Little Rock (Ark.) Mills. Collins, 6-5, 270, saw minimal movement this time around as he goes from 93rd to 94th overall (Alabama commit Jeremiah Beaman went from 94th to 91st, so Collins didn't necessarily 'drop' in the rankings). Collins recently reaffirmed his commitment to the home state Hogs and will sign with Sam Pittman's program on Wednesday. He will then play in the All-American game in San Antonio on January 6 and enroll in Fayetteville later in the month.

At No. 101 overall is Hoover (Ala.) four-star linebacker Bradley Shaw, who is down to Arkansas and Clemson with no set time table for his decision. Shaw fell slightly from October when he was ranked 90th in the nation regardless of position. No Crystal Ball predictions have been made for Shaw, who officially visited Arkansas and Notre Dame in June and Clemson in early November.

The Razorbacks' next highest-rated pledge is Temple (Texas) Lake Belton cornerback Selman Bridges, who dropped ten spots from No. 101 to No. 111 in the December rankings. Bridges, 6-3, 175, has been committed to the Hogs since July 14 and has shown no signs of wavering ahead of Wednesday's early signing period.

Just behind Bridges is another future Razorback in four-star wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman of Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point. Bethel-Roman, 6-0, 165, chose Arkansas on July 4 and is still expected to ink with the Hogs on Wednesday, though he won't report until next summer. The receiver moved one spot from No. 113 to No. 114 in this round of rankings.

With signing day under two days, Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks have lost a notable commitment for the Class of 2024. After entertaining programs such as Florida and Alabama over the last several weeks, Decatur (Ga.) Columbia athlete Jadan Baugh announced his decision to de-commit from the Hogs Monday evening.

"After lots of prayer and talks with my circle I've decided to decommit from the University of Arkansas," Baugh posted on X (former Twitter). "I'd like to thank Coach Pittman and Coach Jimmy and all of Arkansas for believing in me and for the opportunity."

Baugh committed to the Razorbacks on May 19 and made an official visit in Fayetteville a month later. He was in attendance for Arkansas' win over Florida in Gainesville in early November as a guest of the Gators, who have been making a late push for much of Baugh's senior season. Baugh made an official visit at The Swamp two weekends ago.

On November 8, the Crimson Tide joined the race as Nick Saban's program still has no running backs committed for the 2024 cycle. 247Sports reported earlier on Monday that Baugh was likely down to the Tide and Gators for his final decision.

With the loss of Baugh, Arkansas' class drops from 26th to 30th in the national recruiting rankings.

A three-star prospect, Baugh is ranked as the No. 32 athlete in the country and the No. 54 overall target in his home state of Georgia for this year's cycle. The 247Sports Composite rankings list Baugh as a four-star prospect, the No. 17 athlete nationally, and the No. 44 player in the Peach State.

The Razorbacks still have one running back commitment in four-star Braylen Russell of Benton (Ark.). Russell originally committed to the Hogs in November of 2021, then de-committed 11 months later. He rejoined the Hogs' commitment list in July.
