Arkansas landed its transfer quarterback for the 2023-24 cycle on Monday when former Boise State starter Taylen Green committed to the Razorbacks. Green, 6-6, 221, announced his decision after taking an official visit with the Hogs over the weekend. He is Arkansas’ third incoming transfer commitment of the offseason, joining Michigan State offensive tackle Keyshawn Blackstock and Eastern Michigan tight end Andreas Paaske, who committed on Sunday.

Green, who will have two years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in January, was also considering Cal, LSU, Baylor, Miami, Michigan State, and others. The Lewisville (Texas) native will be much closer to home as a Hog.

"Honestly, just the opportunity,” Green said. “The opportunity to be in the city. The teammates seem great, the team seems awesome, the coaches seem awesome. Everybody seems ready to work and that's what I like. I call it getting out the mud, just bringing that mindset every single day. Whatever it takes to grind, whatever it takes to work hard at it. I really love it. I really love it, for sure."

Green had an up-and-down season in 2023, hitting 57.1% of his passes for 1,752 yards and 11 touchdowns against nine interceptions while also rushing for 436 yards and nine touchdowns. The Lewisville (Texas) native started the first five games, played the next five as a backup, then started again and finished strong to close out the season. In the final three contests, he hit 67.8% for 547 yards and five touchdowns with 141 yards and three more scores on the ground.

Green was named MVP of the Mountain West Championship Game after accounting for four touchdowns in a 44-20 win over Barry Odom and UNLV.

As a redshirt-freshman in 2022, Green completed 61% of his attempts for 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns with six interceptions. He added another 586 yards and 10 touchdowns as a runner.

Current Razorback starting quarterback KJ Jefferson has yet to announce his plans for 2024, though there has been plenty of speculation that he will enter the transfer portal and play his final season elsewhere.

Arkansas will host several more transfer targets throughout the rest of the week.

A product of Lewisville, Texas, Green is the fourth portal pickup of the offseason for the Razorbacks and first quarterback.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Green threw for 1,752 yards and 11 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He carried the ball 78 times for 436 yards and nine touchdowns as well.

According to Pro Football Focus, the former two-star prospect played 614 snaps and finished with a grade of 68.0 in 2023.

In his second season with the Broncos (2022), Green went off with 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns through the air to just six interceptions. He added another 586 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

A true dual-threat option at 6-foot-6, 221-pounds, Green possesses a unique blend of size and speed that new Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino can develop.

Arkansas is back down to 17 commitments for the Class of 2024 following a de-commitment from an offensive pledge Tuesday evening. Gregory Genross, the top-ranked junior college tight end in the country for this year's cycle, went public with his decision at just before 6 p.m. central, ending a 22-day commitment to the Hogs.

"First off, I would like to thank everyone from University of Arkansas on giving me the opportunity to play the game I love," Genross said via X (former Twitter). "After talking it over with my family, I’ve decided it’s best for me to DECOMMIT from Arkansas and will be reopening my recruitment."

Genross, 6-7, 230, was recruited by tight ends coach Morgan Turner, who on Sunday received a transfer commitment from Eastern Michigan's Andreas Paaske. Now that Genross is off the board, Arkansas' total scholarship count at Turner's position group drops from seven to six for the 2024 roster.

Genross is a New York native and current sophomore who initially chose the Razorbacks over other offers from Houston, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Utah State, Texas State, Troy and New Mexico State. The three-star target will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
