I would imagine he was probably weighing scholarship offers since we have Fletcher already and all we could offer is a PWO

Arkansas landed its transfer quarterback for the 2023-24 cycle on Monday when former Boise State starter Taylen Green committed to the Razorbacks. Green, 6-6, 221, announced his decision after taking an official visit with the Hogs over the weekend. He is Arkansas’ third incoming transfer commitment of the offseason, joining Michigan State offensive tackle Keyshawn Blackstock and Eastern Michigan tight end Andreas Paaske, who committed on Sunday.

Green, who will have two years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in January, was also considering Cal, LSU, Baylor, Miami, Michigan State, and others. The Lewisville (Texas) native will be much closer to home as a Hog.

"Honestly, just the opportunity,” Green said. “The opportunity to be in the city. The teammates seem great, the team seems awesome, the coaches seem awesome. Everybody seems ready to work and that's what I like. I call it getting out the mud, just bringing that mindset every single day. Whatever it takes to grind, whatever it takes to work hard at it. I really love it. I really love it, for sure."

Green had an up-and-down season in 2023, hitting 57.1% of his passes for 1,752 yards and 11 touchdowns against nine interceptions while also rushing for 436 yards and nine touchdowns. The Lewisville (Texas) native started the first five games, played the next five as a backup, then started again and finished strong to close out the season. In the final three contests, he hit 67.8% for 547 yards and five touchdowns with 141 yards and three more scores on the ground.

Green was named MVP of the Mountain West Championship Game after accounting for four touchdowns in a 44-20 win over Barry Odom and UNLV.

As a redshirt-freshman in 2022, Green completed 61% of his attempts for 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns with six interceptions. He added another 586 yards and 10 touchdowns as a runner.

Current Razorback starting quarterback KJ Jefferson has yet to announce his plans for 2024, though there has been plenty of speculation that he will enter the transfer portal and play his final season elsewhere.

Arkansas will host several more transfer targets throughout the rest of the week.

The Arkansas Razorbacks received good news on Monday, as Boise State transfer quarterback Taylen Green committed to the Hogs per his Instagram.

A product of Lewisville, Texas, Green is the fourth portal pickup of the offseason for the Razorbacks and first quarterback.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Green threw for 1,752 yards and 11 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He carried the ball 78 times for 436 yards and nine touchdowns as well.

According to Pro Football Focus, the former two-star prospect played 614 snaps and finished with a grade of 68.0 in 2023.

In his second season with the Broncos (2022), Green went off with 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns through the air to just six interceptions. He added another 586 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

A true dual-threat option at 6-foot-6, 221-pounds, Green possesses a unique blend of size and speed that new Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino can develop.

Boise State quarterback transfer Taylen Green has committed to Arkansas, he tells On3.

The quarterback spent the weekend in Fayetteville with his family, touring the program and spending time with the Razorbacks coaching staff. Characterized as a “great visit,” Green is making the move to the SEC.

Green received portal interest from LSU, Cal, UCLA, Oregon State, BYU and more than 10 other schools.

“Arkansas felt like the best fit for me,” Green told On3. “From the beginning, Coach [Sam] Pittman and Coach [Bobby] Petrino had a very specific plan for me and that’s why I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this program. Go Hogs!”

Landing the Boise State transfer answers some questions about the quarterback position for Sam Pittman’s program. Reports surfaced last month that KJ Jefferson planned to enter the transfer portal. The quarterback has yet to put his name in college football’s free agency; entering the NFL draft remains an option, too.

But with Taylen Green now headed to Arkansas, the quarterback question is settled. After redshirting his freshman season at Boise State, he had a breakout year in 2022 earning College Football News Freshman All-America Second Team honors and winning the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award after throwing for 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns along with 586 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground.

This past season Green split reps at quarterback with freshman Maddux Madsen, posting 1,752 yards in the air, 436 yards on the ground and 20 total touchdowns. he ended the year scoring four total touchdowns and generating 316 total yards of offense, leading Boise State to a Mountain West title. Green was named the Offensive MVP for the game following his performance.

Arkansas finished the year 4-7 and 1-8 in the SEC. Green will look to jumpstart an offense that averaged 326.5 yards per game this year.

What does this mean?

Even if KJ departs, do we not expect Criswell to compete for starting QB?

I think they just mean the room is settled. KJ is still expected to leave and then you now have four scholarship QBs in Criswell, Green, Singelton and Jackson.

From my understanding, it doesn't matter... There will be a competition to determine the best path forward!

Nice to see...

You’re not wrong. Plus, we have no foresight of the NIL and when he’s the head of Lindsey investments in 20 years and is sending his money to Minnesota it’s also gonna suck.

He has the potential to be good. If he was good he wouldn’t have got benched between this season and last

If he wasn’t good, Petrino wouldn’t have pursued him

I thought Milroe sucked and needed to be benched at the first of the season at Bama.

Competitors compete. The kid looked good in the unlv game but that’s all I watched. I’ll check more out now that we have him. I’m not worried now if KJ leaves and if Criswell winds up the best option I’m okay with it.

We have what appears to be some quality depth and that’s a damn nice change.

Hornsby showed what happens when we don’t.

Don't think anyone doubts that. I believe it's more doubtful about the OL issues being fixed.

We need competition across all positions.

It's the biggest thing the football hasn't done in recent years.

Many players didn't get pushed because role was locked down by performance they did 2 years ago.

Arkansas is back down to 17 commitments for the Class of 2024 following a de-commitment from an offensive pledge Tuesday evening. Gregory Genross, the top-ranked junior college tight end in the country for this year's cycle, went public with his decision at just before 6 p.m. central, ending a 22-day commitment to the Hogs.

"First off, I would like to thank everyone from University of Arkansas on giving me the opportunity to play the game I love," Genross said via X (former Twitter). "After talking it over with my family, I’ve decided it’s best for me to DECOMMIT from Arkansas and will be reopening my recruitment."

Genross, 6-7, 230, was recruited by tight ends coach Morgan Turner, who on Sunday received a transfer commitment from Eastern Michigan's Andreas Paaske. Now that Genross is off the board, Arkansas' total scholarship count at Turner's position group drops from seven to six for the 2024 roster.

Genross is a New York native and current sophomore who initially chose the Razorbacks over other offers from Houston, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Utah State, Texas State, Troy and New Mexico State. The three-star target will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

L Hasz (So.), Washington, Gumms returning plus Easter (RFr.) with Sherman (could return for super senior season) and Paaske (2 yrs to play 2) as blocking TE's.

Yeah no way was he sticking as soon as Washington decided to come back. Petrino doesn’t use that many TEs.
