The impressive thing with brown is how quickly he committed after we offered.

Tenn, Auburn and ole miss had offers to him for about a year. He gets offered by us and committed a month later

Malachi Singleton is announcing a commitment on Monday. I think everyone feels good about the hogs.

His film is fun to watch. He’s not just fast, he has fluid hips, great balance, a low center of gravity. He looks like a running back once he decided to take off

Arkansas is back down to 10 commitments for the Class of 2023 after losing wide receiver Anthony Evans from the haul on Friday. Evans, 5-10, 155, went public with his decision at around 6 p.m. on Friday afternoon to become the Hogs' first de-commitment in this year's cycle.

"I am beyond thankful for all of the love and support from the Arkansas Razorbacks coaching staff, fanbase, and recruiting media. After discussing with my family, coaches and mentors I've come to the realization that there's a lot of things I need to carefully evaluate before making this major decision. Although University of Arkansas will still be one of the programs I am heavily considering, I am officially decommitting. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support during this process. We only get one shot at this decision & I would like to make sure it's the best fit for me & my future. Thank you for everything during the time of my commitment Razorback nation. #wps"

Evans initially committed to the Razorbacks on November 25, 2021. Arkansas was the first Power 5 program to offer the speedy receiver last May. In recent weeks, Evans has added new offers from Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arizona and others.

After landing an offer from the defending national champs, Evans told HawgSports "No sir, everything is just fine #woopig" when asked if the offer might force him to look around. The receiver did not respond to a text asking the same question following the Sooners' offer on April 15.

With Evans off the board, Arkansas' class drops to No. 6 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC.

Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb quarterback Malachi Singleton has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks for the Class of 2023. Singleton, 6-1, 220, went public with his decision on Monday to become the Hogs’ eleventh commitment for this year’s class.

Singleton chose the Razorbacks over offers from Georgia, Louisville, Miami, UCF, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Indiana, NC State, Virginia and several others. He was recruited to Fayetteville by offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.

"The relationship I built with the coaches really helped with this decision," Singleton said. "The offense coach Briles runs I think fits my play style perfectly, and they showed they wanted me from the beginning."

Singleton and both of his parents are expected to arrive in Fayetteville on Friday for what will be the quarterback’s third unofficial visit. Singleton’s first visit was in early November for the Hogs’ win over Mississippi State, and his second came last month for one of the Razorbacks’ prospect days.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Singleton is a three-star target, the No. 24 quarterback in the nation and the No. 39 player in the state of Georgia. 247Sports, however, has him as a four-star prospect, No. 18 among all quarterbacks and No. 19 in the Peach State.

247Sports Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins compared Singleton to Tahj Boyd in his thorough analysis last summer:

“A true dual-threat quarterback that has a knack for making big plays. Looks almost like a linebacker with his thicker build, but is equipped with a strong, rather accurate arm. Has plenty of experience running RPOs and is the type of quarterback that’s a threat to score almost anytime he calls his own number as he’s difficult to bring down both in the box and out in the open field. Pocket awareness a strength at this stage in his development as his internal clock will bail him out of trouble more times than not. Shows some touch on his deep shots and understands how to step into throws in order to generate velocity. Started a few games on varsity as a freshman before winning 10 games as a sophomore and then leading his team to the state playoffs as a junior in one of Georgia’s highest classifications. Won’t be a fit in some offensive systems given unconventional play style, but should thrive in an up-tempo spread attack that wants its quarterback to be more than just a game manager. Will need to keep progressing, but has what it takes to win and score points at the Power 5 level.”

In addition to Singleton, Arkansas’ 2023 class also includes a trio of four-star tight ends in Shamar Easter of Ashdown (Ark.), Luke Hasz of Bixby (Okla.), and Jaden Hamm of Eudora (Kan.), four-star defensive lineman Quincy Rhodes of North Little Rock (Ark.), three-star defensive end Kaleb James of Mansfield (Texas), three-star linebacker Everett Roussaw of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove, Carrollton (Texas) Hebron three-star edge Carson Dean, three-star cornerback Dallas Young of Gardendale (Ala.), four-star offensive lineman Luke Brown of Paris (Tenn.) Henry County, and three-star offensive lineman Joey Su'a of Bentonville (Ark.).

Arkansas’ 2023 class entered the day ranked No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC with 166.72 total points in the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings. Singleton’s commitment brings the total to 176.94, which is just enough to reclaim the SEC’s top class and places Arkansas at No. 4 nationally.

2023 QB Malachi Singleton finds great fit in Arkansas

quote:

Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb quarterback Malachi Singleton knew he was Arkansas’ guy. Singleton is now fully committed to that label.

Singleton announced his commitment to the Razorbacks over UCF, Miami and Georgia on Monday. Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks’ coaching staff made Singleton feel like a priority. Pittman’s coaching style was a big factor for Singleton as well.

“They always let me know that I was their guy and I’m who they wanted,” Singleton told On3. “To me, that was really the selling point. I want to go someplace where I’m wanted as well as somewhere that fits my skill set… His (Pittman) style of coaching is really a big part of why I wanted to commit. I feel like I can thrive in that type of offense. That was huge for me.”

Arkansas saw a surge in production from their incumbent starting quarterback K.J. Jefferson. Singleton has taken note of the growth of the Razorbacks’ quarterback. Singleton says he watched almost every game the Razorbacks played last season.

He has hopes that offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and the rest of the offensive coaching staff can do something similar with him.

“The development was crazy,” Singleton said. “Coach (Kendal) Briles does a great job not only just with him, but with all the quarterbacks in that room. I thought they all got better. Just seeing what he (Jefferson) does, I feel like I can do a lot o the same things.”

quote:

Malachi Singleton got comfortable with Arkansas quickly

quote:

Singleton has seen a lot of Arkansas as of late. He’s been on campus twice in the last month.

“Every time I go it just gets better and better,” Singleton said. “The players are really cool.”

There will be a familiar face looking back at Singleton in the huddle once he reaches campus. His high school teammate Sam Mbake is a member of the Razorbacks’ 2022 class.

Singleton and Mbake have been close for years. As a result, Mbake has done some recruiting for the Razorbacks in honor of Arkansas. It’s paid off. Coincidently, both Singleton and Mbake were in Fayetteville together over the weekend.

“We had a great time, that’s one of my best friends,” Singleton said. “He’s a major part of me coming to Arkansas. He was recruiting me every day. Having somebody I already know there just makes things really good.”

Your guess is as good as mine.

For a dual threat qb, I see his build as an advantage. Should help his durability.

Scouting take: What Arkansas gets in 4-star QB Malachi Singleton

quote:

Arkansas landed a significant commitment Monday from Malachi Singleton, a dynamic high school quarterback standout and Top247 four-star prospect from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb. Approaching 6-foot-1 and almost 230 pounds, Singleton is a stoutly built dual-threat QB with excellent on-field production, including more than 2,300 passing yards and 1,000-plus rushing yards resulting in almost 50 total touchdowns in Fall 2021.

A high three-star on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Singleton resides inside the national top 200 on the Top247, which considers him a four-star recruit ranked among the top 20 quarterbacks in this class and top 20 overall prospects in the loaded state of Georgia. Singleton's production speaks for itself as he's produced 6,000-plus total yards of offense over the last two seasons, not to mention a 39-9 TD-INT ratio and an encouragingly low interception rate of one INT in every 46-plus attempts.

One quick look at Arkansas' QB room reveals players such as KJ Jefferson and Malik Hornsby, highly productive high school quarterbacks through the air and on the ground with dynamic running ability. In four high school seasons, Jefferson threw for more than 9,600 yards with a 119-25 TD-INT ratio, in addition to 2,900-plus rushing yards and 24 more scores.

Hornsby assembled two huge seasons as a junior and senior, totaling almost 4,300 passing yards with a sterling 52-4 TD-INT ratio that included an INT rate of one in every 82.25 attempts. He also provided electric running ability with 2,300-plus yards and 31 touchdowns on almost 11 yards per tote.

In other words, while each of these three quarterbacks may different in physical build and stature, the statistical results and what we see on tape show the same type of dynamic dual-threat quarterback who can stress defenses in a variety of scenarios. Here's more from the 247Sports national team on Singleton and what he brings to Arkansas.

Cooper Petagna, 247Sports national analyst: "It's difficult to find an offense that fits the skill set of Malachi Singleton better than Kendal Briles and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Singleton efficiently completed 72 percent of his passing attempts last season with a 24-3 TD-INT ratio, while adding more than 1,000 yards and an additional 25 TDs with his legs. Although Singleton's passing efficiency should be enough to grab the attention of the Arkansas faithful, it's the Georgia native's dynamic ability as a runner that could give the Hogs an added dimension at the next level.

"With a compact frame hovering around 220 pounds, Singleton possesses the natural instincts and ability as a runner that could arguably make him one of the nation's most intriguing tailbacks despite the fact he's being recruited as a quarterback. In an offense with an identity built around its physical style of play and quarterback playmaking ability, it's hard to imagine a better fit stylistically for both the Hogs and Malachi Singleton as they look to make some magic together on Saturdays."

Chris Singletary, 247Sports national analyst: "I believe that the Razorbacks and Singleton are a match made for each other, a great fit. When looking at how they utilized the skill set of KJ Jefferson to the tune of a 9-4 record and were able to maximize his talent, I see the same outcome for Singleton. He gives them a dual threat at the QB position who is dangerous with both his arm and legs to give defenses major problems.

"Singleton has a nice deep ball and is more than effective as a pass. In the running game with his build, vision, and elusiveness he is such a problem to contain. Once he is integrated into the offense and masters its nuances, coupled with his skill set, he could have Arkansas continuing to trend upward. When you hear from Sam Pittman and how he envisions his program, this the quarterback for them."

247SPORTS SCOUTING REPORT
"A true dual-threat quarterback who has produced throughout prep career. Looks almost like a running back or linebacker with his thicker build, but is equipped with a strong, rather accurate arm.

"Has plenty of experience running RPOs and seems to always know when exactly to pull the ball and call his own number. Not one to shy away from contact and is more than capable of picking up yards after contact as he keeps his legs pumping.

"Pocket awareness is without a doubt a strength at this stage in his development as his internal clock will bail him out of trouble more times than not. Shows some touch on his deeper shots, and understands how to step into throws in order to generate velocity. However, must continue to keep improving as a passer and get more consistent, especially once more complex passing concepts and route combinations are added to the equation.

"Started a few games on varsity as a freshman before winning 10 games as a sophomore and then 10 more as a junior in the Peach State’s second-highest classification. Won’t be a fit in some offensive systems given unconventional play style and quirky measurables (believed to be tipping the scales at just over 6-foot, 225 pounds), but should thrive in an uptempo spread attack that wants its quarterback to quickly distribute the football and essentially be a point guard.

"Will likely need some time to adjust to the speed of Power 5 football, but has what it takes to win games on Saturdays. Views himself strictly as a quarterback having played the position since he was a child, but could eventually carve out a career somewhere else on the field given how he changes directions for someone his size." -- Andrew Ivins, 247Sports Southeast analyst

I personally feel that Luke would probably end up at WR in the slot in this offense.
