Typical and it happens every year. Start high and it ends up out of the top 25.

Sixth 2024 in-state offer goes to Bryant EDGE/DL TJ Lindsey.

Colorado, Houston, Texas Tech and Georgia have offered over the past week.

2024 in-state offer DL Charleston Collins is also blowing up with recent offers from Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

McKinney (Texas) safety Christian Ford has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The 6-0, 185-pound defensive back went public with his decision on Sunday after wrapping up an official visit in Fayetteville (Ark.).

Ford chose the Hogs over TCU, Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington State and several others.

"I feel like this is home and I feel like this is the place I needed to be," Ford said of his commitment. "(I told them) yesterday at dinner. Everybody was excited, everybody was cheering me on. It was a fun time."

Ford, who plays for former Arkansas defensive lineman Marcus Shavers at McKinney High, was recruited to the Hill by defensive backs coach Dominique Bowman.

"He's a great coach, he's a great coach," Ford said. "I know he's going to get me right and potentially help me make it to the NFL."

The Texas native's decision was made easy after a successful 48-hour visit in Fayetteville.

"I had a great time, made me feel like home," Ford said. "Everybody was really cool and made me feel like this is the place I needed to be. "Just hanging out with the hosts, Mani Powell and Jordan Crook."

Mableton (Ga.) Whitefield Academy two-way lineman Ian Geffrard announced his commitment to Arkansas on Monday afternoon, choosing the Razorbacks over Auburn among others.

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound Geffrard is commit No. 14 for the Razorbacks in the 2023 cycle, adding to a class that was ranked No. 9 nationally by the 247Sports Composite.

“I committed to Arkansas,” Geffrard told 247Sports before going public with his plans. He took his official visit to Fayetteville over the weekend. “My first impression of them was great, and I’ve had past interactions with Coach Pittman while he was at Georgia and he hasn’t changed since then. He was a great coach then and a great coach now.”

Geffrard also had opportunities from Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Minnesota, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Texas. The Razorbacks have everything he was looking for in a school and program.

“After seeing what Coach Pittman has done with the program, and seeing how fired up the current players were about it got me motivated to join and recruit to make the team’s class the best in the country.

“I enjoy the location and overall scene, even though it is a little far from home. I didn’t talk much with Coach Adams (the defensive line coach) before my official visit, but I spent a lot more time with him and realized I wanted him to be my coach when I play at the next level.”

Seems our "great" 23 recruting class is shaping up just like all the others. I fully expect us to finish 24-27th ish.

That simply isn't going to be enough to consistently compete in the SEC.

Usually how it goes. Get a lot of early 3* commits, class is top 10 or top 5. Starts shaping into its usual form after higher commits start going to the usual schools.

These recruiting sites are going to be more favorable to the more traditionally superior programs. I bet if he had an offer from Bama and was allowed to commit then he would be a four star.

Until Arkansas ends the conference champion drought and the prestige level goes up then Sam has to win with what he has and I believe he will make Arkansas an overachiever which raises the reputation as serious program to recruits. Arkansas currently is a nobody and not attractive enough to recruits.

Folks need to remember that Sam overachieved going 9-4 with only three players drafted off that team and was a play away from going 9-3. If Bert or Nutt took control of this team then they win five games. Both combine don't have the work ethic to be on par with Sam.

I don't go by stars, I go by who else has offered and I'll take just about any kid offered by Auburn and Texas, even if they've been shitty lately.

Now that safety that we just took... Let's just hope it works out

Arkansas has landed a commitment from 2023 defensive back RJ Johnson of McDonough (Ga.) Eagles Landing. Johnson, 6-2, 180, went public with his decision on Saturday, becoming the Razorbacks' 15th verbal pledge for the current cycle.

Johnson chose Arkansas over offers from Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Duke and several others. He was recruited to Fayetteville by defensive backs coach Dominique Bowman.

Johnson made an official visit on the Hill last weekend and then took a trip to Rutgers earlier this week.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is a three-star prospect, the No. 64 athlete in the nation, and the No. 65 overall target in the state of Georgia for the Class of 2023. 247Sports offers a similar ranking, listing Johnson as the No. 67 athlete in the land and the No. 58 player in the Peach State.

Johnson is expected to play cornerback for the Razorbacks. He is Arkansas' second defensive back commitment of the week, joining McKinney (Texas) safety Christian Ford, who also made his official visit last weekend in Fayetteville.

With the addition of Johnson, Arkansas' 2023 class moves up one spot to No. 8 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC. The Razorbacks are expected to land a handful of commitments over the next few weeks.

Christian Ford, 2023 S, McKinney: recently committed to Arkansas, Ford -- who looks and plays bigger than his listed size of 6 feet, 175 pounds -- made a game-changing interception in McKinney's overtime victory against Austin Westlake, a win that sealed a 3-0 pool play record that included another noteworthy dub vs. the always talented Fort Bend Marshall. Ford is a good athlete with plus length and his 100-meter PR this spring -- an impressive 10.92 -- suggests developmental potential.

Oxford (Miss.) linebacker Alex Sanford has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Sanford, 6-3, 240, went public with his decision on Sunday after wrapping up an official visit in Fayetteville.

Sanford chose the Hogs over offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Southern Miss, Troy, Arkansas State and several others. He was recruited to Arkansas by linebackers coach Michael Scherer.

"For one, me personally, I'm real family orientated," Sanford said. "Come to Arkansas and it's family everywhere. Coach Pittman he like family, Coach Scherer he's like family. The players are like family. Everybody is straight family. I'm real family orientated so it's got to be family first.

"Then the way this defense is set up for me. It's set up for linebackers to make plays. When you come here you're going to make plays. You are going to get playing time. So there's lots you are going to do here. That's why I'm coming here."

With the addition of Sanford, Arkansas' 2023 class moves ahead of Cincinnati to No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Sanford is a three-star prospect, the No. 63 linebacker in the nation, and the No. 14 overall target in the state of Mississippi. 247Sports considers him the No. 58 linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 player in Mississippi.
