I mean, Mateos took over the line for the bowl game a few years back. In the weeks of practive prior to the bowl... he did something right. That Oline was incredibly better during the bowl game than it was for several games prior.

FWIW... I like the dude!

I said that would happen a week ago.

Pittman sticks to what he knows or what’s forced upon him. He was a GA under Pittman for 2 years I believe here.

I trust Sam’s judgment over my own. This is one spot he really wants right.

--I think Jeff Grimes will likely be replaced, but the question will be Mateos. He is a very good OL coach and loves Baylor. Stayed despite big pushes from Texas A&M and Georgia. If Aggies come calling again though, he bounces. No doubt about it. He is a very good recruiter and was dealt a hand of some key upper classmen (Conner Heffernan, Elijah Ellis) just not taking the steps they needed to take. Too many young guys and it took way too long to find the right group.

Similar to what happened here I guess. The young guys weren’t as good or as experienced as the previous guys. Very good offensive linemen don’t grow on trees. It takes years for most to develop if they stay that long.

I wish the south Arkansas linemen were bigger kids, they’d destroy folks.

Sounds very familiar.

Seriously, if it actually matters who our oline coach is under Petrino and Pittman we are gonna have bigger problems.

You’re expecting them to do it themselves?

We need all the help we can get.
