Jackson. Umude, and one of the bangers down low make us scary.

Christian Bishop picked up a Kansas offer so it will be a battle for him.

My guess is it goes something like this:

PG - Pinson or Jackson
SG - Umude or Jones
Big man - BPA (not as many options linked to us as the guards though)

Then Henderson moves on. These things move so fast though we’ll probably end up with someone we aren’t even expecting.

Purely hypothetical, but if Reggie Chaney wanted to come back for his final year, do you guys think his frame would help?

Well, even if he wanted to I seriously doubt Muss would even consider it.

Reggie isn't really a great fit for his system, he can provide some solid mins but he is a four that can't stretch the defense and doesn't handle the ball great either.

ETSU F Damari Monsanto named us in his top 6.

Southern Conference Freshman Player of the Year.

Played 25 games, 27.4 min per, PTS 11.8, FG 41%, 3FG 35%, FT 79%, REB 7, AST 1, STL 1, PF 2, TO 1.4.

Lykes, who scored 2,266 points at Gonzaga, earning Washington Catholic Athletic Conference player of the year honors as a junior and senior, is down to two schools: Arkansas and Southern California. He said he plans to make a decision by this Wednesday.

On Arkansas: "They have a good coaching staff and they made a great run in the tournament this year. I like how they play and the coaching staff. They also have Earl Boykins on their staff, so I feel like he could teach me a lot of things."

On USC: "I just feel like they've always been there. I think being the point guard with the athletes that they have would be a great opportunity."

The ACC's ninth-leading scorer two years ago and a preseason first-team all-conference choice last year before suffering that injury, Lykes might have two years of eligibility left if he opts to pursue a medical redshirt for last season. But that's not his plan.

A week from now things will look a lot more clear for us. I’ve stopped trying to keep up with who all we could land at this point

NICK SMITH IS AT HIS BEST AS A PLAYMAKER

quote:

During my time at the Swish ‘N Dish, I didn’t see many, if any, players better than Nick Smith. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering the product of Arkansas who plays his grassroots ball for Brad Beal Elite is currently ranked No. 25 overall in the class of 2022 by 247Sports.

The question that kept crossing my mind while watching him play, though, was do we need to switch his position and how does he best fit on the college level? Currently, we have Smith listed as a shooting guard and he’s certainly got a future as a two. However, I would be in favor of switching him to combo guard or possibly even point guard and in college I believe he’ll fit best in a situation where he’s got the ball in his hands.

At 6-foot-4, Smith is a sneaky explosive athlete. Whether it is ball screens or pure one on one situations he reads defenses and uses a tremendous first step and great body control to slither around defenders. He’s wired to score first, but he’s much better scoring off the dribble than running off screens or playing catch and shoot. On top of that, he’s a much better passer than given credit for and I think he could defend points and combos.

Arkansas, Auburn and Kentucky seem to be generating the most talk when it comes to his recruitment – Baylor, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas and others are involved – all of them would be well advised to sell him on being a primary ball handler and playmaker. It is both the best move for his future and the best way for a school to fully utilize his talents.

It can really become a headache. I wonder what Muss is thinking though in terms of roster outlook. I believe we still need another big but maybe he doesn't think we have to have one. Seems like we are much closer on some guards. If we only have two spots left, curious if he would just take two guards high on the transfer rankings and call it a day.

Dallas Thomas - The state of Arkansas has been pumping out some impressive talent of late, Thomas looks like he could be the next one to turn himself into a nationally relevant recruit. Playing with Brad Beal Elite’s 15U team, Thomas was a little inconsistent but that’s ok. He’s a long and slender wing who is pushing 6-foot-7 and has a dangerous jump shot to beyond the three-point line. He’s got some ball skills and is all arms and legs at this point. Missouri State, St. John’s, TCU and Tulsa are in with early offers and there’s a chance that Thomas recruitment eventually attracts the best college hoops has to offer.

STANLEY UMUDE STARTING TO FINALIZE THINGS

quote:

If it were not for technical difficulties, Umede would have had an article of his own as he is arguably one of the best players in the portal. However, the audio refused to pick up the conversation but the thankfully I took enough notes to recap.

Due to an impressive 2021 season averaging 21.6 PPG, 7 RPG, & 3 APG last season for South Dakota, the 6-foot-7 wing out of San Antonio (Texas) has been heavily recruited by multiple high major programs across the states. However, Umude says that Arkansas, Arizona, Clemson, Kansas, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M has been recruiting him the hardest.

A great relationship with the coaching staff and the ability to showcase his talents at the high major level will be prioritized when Umude makes his final decision. He mentioned he is in the final stages of his recruitment and is currently in the process of cutting his list. As of now, it looks as if Bill Self and the Jayhawks have the most momentum.

Let’s hope Smith quickly sees the Cal method is dying and He has a better chance with Muss.

If Smith's top 3 really do include Kentucky and Auburn... Then homeie seems to be looking for more then just "fit."

Honestly, though, isn't Muss in on a couple 5* out of state guys, too?

And with the portal the way it is, I don't know how much HS recruiting even really matters anymore.

I hope Moody's one and done is a big sell for him.

His season finish wasn't the most ideal but would be great if he snuck into the Top 10 in the draft.

Big, big marketing tool for Muss to hang his hat on for future top recruits.

It is mainly just Wes Flanigan who has been annoying for awhile now.

He has been able to help them get Trey Alexander and Chris Moore over us.

With the portal being used a lot, high school recruiting isn't as high as a priority. However the portal is an alternative to to the one and dones that is destroying college basketball.
