We have to adjust to the world we live in now as far as college sports. Getting labelled as an NBA prep program is probably the best we can hope for as we move forward.
As I have said before... Thirty years ago with the class we have coming in to Arkansas would be a nightmare for two or three years. Now we need to be scary this year and build on it for next year.

This will probably knock them out of some preseason top 10 polls.

Top 5 for sure but I don't think it will drop that much. Many of the rankings had his decision built in as a 50/50 thing.

Can't see them going lower than 6 or 7 pre-season. But I also think it's going to take a lot more time for the group to jell without Williams in the middle and the on-court leader of the team.
In saying that, I think Nick Smith is going to come in and be the alpha dog from day 1.

247 NBA Draft Combine: should they stay or should they go?
quote:
Jaylin Williams - Arkansas
What he’s saying: “Really, it’s still up in the air. I’m still deciding on what’s the best choice for me. I’m trying to feel things out, see how people on the next level think about me and so things are still up in the air.”
On the prospect of fitting into a new-look Arkansas team: “It’s hard for me not to fit in with a team just because I do all the little things. I’m not worried about scoring. I’m not worried about playing 40 minutes a game. I’m worried about doing all the little things, rebounding, playing hard, things like that, so I think as long as there’s a roster spot I can fit in somehow.”
The considerations: Nothing about Jaylin Williams’ combine numbers were especially helpful to his draft stock. He was 6-foot-10 with shoes (but only 6-foot-8-and-three-quarters without shoes). His 8.5-inch hands were relatively small compared to other bigs, while his 3.5 second sprint and 30-inch vertical jump were also relatively low. In Thursday’s game, he scored 5 points on 2-6 shooting while pulling down 6 rebounds and adding three assists. Beyond the numbers though, he won 50/50 balls, showed his motor on the glass, and passed the ball very well. Nonetheless, it was somewhat surprising when he pulled out of Friday’s game.
The bottom line: The intel suggests that Williams could be leaning toward staying in the draft, but right now, his chances of getting a guaranteed deal that comes with being chosen in the first round, seem far less certain. Given the void in the middle of Arkansas’ line-up and the rest of the firepower they’ve assembled, he certainly has a quality option waiting should he elect to return.

Class of 2024 guard David Castillo backing up five-star status
quote:
There’s no doubt that David Castillo is one of the top talents in the 2024 class. He’s been very productive playing up at the 17U level for Team Griffin this summer and has backed up his five-star status in doing so. Through two EYBL sessions, Castillo is averaging 13.5 points and shooting 42% from behind the arc.
The high-scoring guard sat down with Rivals to talk about where things are at in his recruitment.
quote:
Arkansas: “I talk to (assistant) coach Ronnie Brewer. He stays in touch a lot. I love the family bond that they have over there at Arkansas. Whenever I visited, everybody was very close to each other and the atmosphere was amazing. I really love the relationships that they have with each other.”

Arkansas Class of 2023 targets in Top 150 rankings update
quote:
Thursday morning, the Top 150 rankings for the 2023 class received an overhaul, and several of Arkansas' targets found themselves included in the Top 150, which is a good sign for Eric Musselman and his staff as they look to continue snowballing momentum on the recruiting trail.
Arkansas is gearing up to welcome the nation's No. 2 signing class to campus over the next several days to begin summer workouts. To match, or surpass, what ranks as the top haul in program history, the Razorbacks will have their work cut out for them, but the groundwork has already been laid as Arkansas has welcomed numerous visitors to campus for unofficial visits throughout the fall and winter while being a court side mainstay at live evaluation periods during the spring.
Here's a look at where each of the prospects Arkansas has been involved with landed in the most recent Top247 update:

PAST AND UPCOMING VISITS
quote:
Arkansas has already received unofficial visits from Layden Blocker, Chris Johnson, Brandon Garrison, Baye Fall, Assane Diop, Trent Pierce and Osiris Grady. The Razorbacks currently have a pair of top targets scheduled to make official visits in the near future.
Blocker will make the trek to Fayetteville June 6-8 for his official. He has taken recent trips to Kansas State and Maryland and is scheduled to visit Kansas before announcing his commitment at the NBPA Top 100 camp on his birthday, July 2. Ron Holland will visit Arkansas from June 9-11. He is coming off a recent stop at UCLA and announced earlier in the week he will follow up his Arkansas visit with an official to Kentucky.

Damn.
Hope it works out for him. I haven't seen him in listed in any mock drafts. Good luck and thanks for the last two years. One of my favorite Razorbacks of all time.

“I’m a positionless player,” Holland told On3. “I can do whatever you need me to do to get the job done; bring a lot of energy to the floor and do the things that basically no one likes to do. I watch a lot of Bam Adebayo and Jaylen Brown, high-level energy guys who get to their spots.”

“I have already taken official visits to Memphis and UCLA,” Holland said. “I have an official visit set up with Arkansas and Kentucky coming up. I’m going to take my fifth visit to Texas.”

Arkansas: “They have one of my former teammates from Duncanville, Anthony Black. It’s really how Coach Muss (Eric Musselman) recruits and how well he recruits. The relationship he builds. They play fast-paced, and they coach toward how I play.”

It has been a quick climb for 2023 Zayden High. The 2023 On3 Consensus No. 32 player ended the season unranked, and now the 6-foot-10 forward is pushing a consensus top-50 ranking.
“I can score the ball, shoot it, I mean, I shoot it from beyond the arc,” High told On3. “I’m a team player; I like to move the ball around and get my teammates involved. My confidence has really built up, and I think that is all it is; my confidence is so high now.”
The breakout happened with playing with the JL3 program on Nike’s EYBL circuit. On3 caught up with Zayden High this weekend to see where his recruitment stands.
“I’ve only been on an official visit to UT-San Antonio,” High said. “We are setting up visits now. I want to get to Michigan, Arkansas, Houston, and Texas; those are probably my top schools.”

Arkansas: “They were one of the first programs to go on me and offer. That’s all love right there. Coach Muss (Eric Musselman) has been great; I talk to someone from their coaching staff almost every single day. That sticks out too, to me.”
