Fed Ex isn't exactly sexy, either, but for 7 figures, these kids would endorse The Taliban.
I'll be interested to see if the baseball team gets any deals, or at least gets the scholarship limit erased by outside investments.
Even at small colleges with good baseball programs, that sport usually gets all kinds of donations and field improvements given to them. Rich people love that sport.

Unless a fortune 500 company steps up then Arkansas cannot compete with Oregon for players.
Oregon is going to benefit the most of any school in the nation while Arkansas continues to finish close to last place in the race of competition.
Oregon has a culture and that is paying players long before NIL. Arkansas is the opposite and has false hope that the NCAA in the past will step in for so many years and do something. Nothing happens to these schools and Arkansas limits themselves by not competing.
But instead of taking the initiative to recruit players by all means necessary, Arkansas will be to slow to react as always as college football evolves around them.

If I’m all these college schools sponsored by Nike I immediately look for another apparel brand to support if Nike is going to basically be poaching all my recruits with NIL

Nick Smith NOT making his official visit to Kentucky this weekend.
Maybe Alabama is our biggest threat after all

I don't understand the draw of Kentucky at all anymore, especially when you have much bigger amounts of $$ getting thrown around other schools now.

Probably Overtime Elite is more competition than anything

Think I saw where someone confirmed he’s not going pro

Poster on 247 today said he spoke with someone who works in Kentucky sports radio and they in the Bluegrass State think Arkansas is now in the driver's seat for Nick Smith.
That's why he canceled his visit to Kentucky. Plus Kentucky may like another recruit better for his spot now.
Just speculation, but seemed credible.

Walmart has stepped up with a 1 year 100K deal.

Eh, Bama has seemed like the biggest threat for awhile now regarding Smith.

Bama is what the Arkansas 247 guys have been saying for a month or two now.

Yep, Curtis has been saying for awhile now it will come down to how well Arkansas performs on the visit.

Big ESPN best remaining update today.
quote:
And beginning today, Sept. 9, coaches can once again hit the road and watch players at their high schools and conduct in-home visits -- for the first time in 18 months.
6. Nick Smith, 6-4, 170 lbs., SG, North Little Rock High School (Arkansas)
In the mix: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Memphis, Kansas, Oklahoma
Smith took official visits in June to Kansas, Alabama and Auburn, went on a trip to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in August and has official visits scheduled to Arkansas and Oklahoma over the next two weekends. One of the breakout stars of the summer, Smith was also being recruited by Kentucky -- but his scheduled visit to Lexington last weekend was canceled and the two sides have gone their separate ways. (More on that later.) We should know more following the upcoming visits.
7. Jordan Walsh, 6-7, 195 lbs., SF, Link Year Prep (Missouri)
In the mix: Arizona State, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oregon, TCU, Oklahoma
Walsh's recruitment has intensified, with Kansas and Texas making strong inroads over the last several weeks. He's expected to take visits to both Big 12 schools in the coming weeks, while Arizona State is scheduled to host him this weekend. Oregon is also pushing for a visit. Prior to July, Walsh had been to Arkansas, Oklahoma and TCU. The Razorbacks were considered the leader coming out of July, but Kansas and Texas have closed the gap. Walsh and his family will meet with Chris Beard on Thursday and Bill Self on Monday.

How did this visit go? They don't look pleased.

That was about as good as it was going to get in terms of an atmosphere for Nick Smith and the other recruits.
Sounds like we made up some ground but still too close to call.
