We arguably got the best position player and pitcher in the portal.

Aloy ranks #25 for 2024 MLB Draft, Molina #37.

So, assuming everyone stays healthy, Smith, Tygart, Molina starting on the weekend? Yuck.

Update

Signed:
SS/3B Aidan Miller - PHI - $3,100,000
OF Kendall George - LAD - $1,850,000
SS Nazzan Zanetello - BOS - $3,000,000
SS Walker Martin - SF - $3,000,000
RHP Dylan Questad - MIN - $500,000
RHP Barrett Kent - LAA - $1,000,000
RHP Craig Yoho - MIL - unknown - $196,700 slot value

Waiting:
RHP Gabe Gaeckle - CIN

We should be in the clear on Gaeckle signing. LINK

Reds signed HS RHP Cole Schoenwetter to $1,900,000. Slot value was $640,300.

quote:

That signing bonus puts the Cincinnati Reds over their pool allotment by $443,800. It puts the club into the first level of penalties, which is just a tax on their overage. It will not cost them a draft pick next year – they can technically still spend another $245,459.00 above the $150,000 allowable to any of their remaining five draft picks. The club would just have to pay a 75% tax on the overage on those as well.

Looks like Hachman will be a go as well. He should be ready to start throwing in September. I wouldn’t expect him to throw a ton of innings, but he could be a valuable piece out of the pen by the time conference play ramps up.

I wish people would stop talking about how good our incoming players and some of our returners are.

Have read (especially on H-ville) folks saying with Smith, Tygart, Molina that we'll have the best weekend rotation in the country.

That pretty much guarantees at least one will get shut down for the season, probably within 48 hours of the season starting.

And who knows how many of our starters in the field will break legs or hamate bones or whatever the hell else?

Y'all please don't piss off the baseball gods.

Just saw that Wiggins is still unsigned with the deadline at 4pm tomorrow. Anyone have thoughts? I really don't much about draft norms.

The only thing I ever heard on him right after the season was there's a decent chance he returns if he falls to the 4th round.

Which he didn't, so who knows maybe still borderline money wise with what they're offering.

That was pretty much my mindset when I saw it, but I don't know enough about draft stuff.

It's something to keep an eye on for tomorrow either way.

Meh. 5th year small school guy, was their leadoff hitter. Had a couple hits against us this year in our series. 1/4 1/3 2/5.
