Bearcats Preview

Our schedule is silly brutal (again), but we better be ready 9/3. Why?

1. We define their season. Beating an SEC team to start the year throws them right back into the conversation. Losing to us...well...no chance for CFP again.

2. Their entire O-Line is back. Nuff said, especially considering our weakest link may be our D-Line.

3. Corey Kiner RB. Decent back. Transferred from LSU. Will be hungry with lots to prove. Now see #2.

4. They've got 2 QBs trying to replace Ridder...Prater probably starts, but the other kid is a better runner. See #2.

5. Their secondary is unproven and our o-Line should be able to manhandle them for the most part. We should move the football pretty well.

6. Their defense is going to gamble. They will simply need to. That can be dangerous if they get a play early.

Overall...I think it will be a great test. Probably helps keep every player on their toes knowing we start with a playoff team. But...Cincinnati knows what it feels like and they enjoyed it.

Yes.

I think we will flop around a bit in the first half trying to pass it with mostly new receivers. Half the posters will lose their mind and a petition to fire Briles will circulate at halftime. We will settle down and grind out a comfortable win in the second half and everyone will pretend we had faith all along.

Definitely can’t afford to come out like we did against Rice last year. Glad we have some continuity at QB and OL so that should help.

I expect the juke box to be blaring after the game. I absolutely love that "turn that damn juke box on!" that Coach Pittman does after a game win.

Ideally we just run the ball heavily out of the gate with success because I see our passing game struggling early in the year. I’d like to see this as a 250+ yards on the ground type of game.

I believe we will try to pass some when we can run because we want to work the kinks out, and as others have said people will be cussing briles, but at the end of the day will lean on the run to get the W. I don’t think cincy can stop our ground game and I expect Odom to have the D locked in and give Cincinnati some real issues. If Texas couldn’t run the ball last year with Bijan robinson in the backfield I doubt Cincinnati has a lot more success this year and with a new qb taking over I don’t see them beating us through the air.

Sorry, wish I could upvote this GIF more than once. Nice to be relevant again. Can’t believe we had 10 consecutive years that were that bad (actually, with us I can).

Hope so. Honestly, I know we’re prone to shitting the Pig Pen. But I think that we are going to walk into this one ready to prove something. If not, it’ll speak for itself in terms of coaching and off-season prep.

Bama wasn't good at running the foozball... they ran for 301 on them. the hogs were the best power 5 rushing team last year. will be better this year. horrid match up for Cincinnati. they could hope to stack the box, and their corners keep you from beating them deep, but that is gone.
