To find a better start to a season for Razorback football you have to go all the way back to 2003.

2003 started 4-0, finished 9-4.
2004 started 3-1, finished 5-6
2005 started 1-3, finished 4-7
2006 Started 3-1, finished 10-3
2007 Started 2-2, finished 8-5

2008 Started 2-2, finished 5-7
2009 Started 2-2, finished 8-5
2010 Started 3-1, finished 10-3
2011 Started 3-1, finished 11-2
2012 Started 1-3, finished 4-8

2013 Started 3-1, finished 3-9
2014 Started 3-1, finished 7-6
2015 Started 1-3, finished 8-5

2016 Started 3-1, Soon to be 4-1 if Little Rock magic doesn't strike again.

The only seasons that has gotten off to a better start would be 2011 (4-1), 2010 (4-1), 2006 (4-1), 2003 (4-1) or the best years since 2003 for the program.

Insert Nick Saban calm the frick down gif.

We got whipped on the front line, yet still dominated TOP
Easily left 21 pts on the field cause we couldn't score from within the 5
Had a defensive 3 and out negated by a stupid penalty, they went on to score
Gave up 3-4 long TD runs right up the gut untouched

Considering the above I see no reason to panic. The loss sucks but still a lot of positives to take away.

We've had problems containing QBs for years, whether it's a designed run or a scramble.

Plenty of teams share in this same problem, even Bama.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about 3-1. Are we perfect? No but we all had us down with losses this season. Most with this exact record. Sure we called which game hut honestly I prefer it this way. Aggie is looking strong right now

I admit in my head I picked A&M to win the game before the season started and us to lose to TCU. We just have a real problem countering the speed of a good spread team. I still picked us to win 8 games, maybe 9 if we get some breaks.

We have a chance, a real solid chance, to win 10 games this year.

I think a lot of people are just tired of losing to aggy. I am in this crowd. I agree that a great season is still possible.

I'm in this camp. I'm just tired of losing to A&M. I'm also tired of losing to Alabama and Florida. I'd take a loss to LSU and Ole Miss if we could beat Alabama and Florida this year.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works.

But what are the chances of this being fixed as the season progresses? It's kind of a big problem.

This x100. I was so salty after that game I was doing my best to piss off some aggies to join in my misery, but I failed. Again.

I mean... that entire issue is fixed if our o line gets a push in short yardage. The probability of that getting fixed is pretty high I'd say. Especially since A&M has one of the better D Lines we'll face all year. It's a very concentrated problem and not widespread across the program. If that one issue gets fixed then a huge amount of our problems as a team are fixed.

14 are an easy fix don't fumble. The other one is simply a matter of calling better plays.

We scored 12 points and derped away so many red zone chances against Toledo last year, and a few weeks later we were looking like the '07 Patriots in conference play and our offense ended up statistically better than anything Petrino ever trotted out.

Bert's teams are weird, but they always get stronger and better as the season progresses.

in 2006 we finished 10-4, not 10-3.

The Aggies are solid as frick this year. We got beat, the SEC is stacked, we will probably lose to Bama and OM as well to finish 9-3. Calm the frick down that's further improvement and Bert has our recruiting spaced out where we aren't constantly rebuilding every year. These guys are fun to watch, relax and root for our boys on Saturday.

On a side note, I sort of feel bad for the freshmen at LSU like Devin White who committed to Miles and then got to play 4 whole games under him. I'd be livid if that were me.

Of course, anyone who couldn't see the writing on the wall after the debacle that was their last 4 weeks had their head in the sand.

I feel like having all 11 players in the box in goal line gives an advantage to the defense. We could easily get 6 inches on a qb sneak if the defense is spread out with 3-4 WRs. It's why the spread offense works so well. I don't want to go to a spread but I don't think the goal line formation puts us in a position to succeed.

Imagine if football was 1 on 1. The offense would have a huge advantage because they only have to beat one person.

Now imagine if football was 30 on 30. The field would be so crowded no one would ever get a single yard running. Odds are one of those 30 defenders is going to get around a block.

Those extremes show why it helps to spread the defense out and shows why the goal line wasn't working for us.

Very true. I'm a proponent of having at least 1 WR split out at the goal line in lieu of just running 23 personnel in order to somewhat spread the defense out. It works flawlessly for Stanford because they're the lone proponent of power football in a soft spread conference with weak lines. It's a different ballgame in the SEC, and it really threw back the curtain on how A&M has overhauled their defensive philosophy.

I can't remember if we were in 23 for the first couple of plays (don't believe we were with Hatcher) and I'm not enough of a masochist to rewatch the game.

That targeting penalty is where the game changed imo.

That stupid idiot, one of the dumbest plays I've seen.
