2 walks and a HBP is not decent control.

Back foot breaking ball hits someone’s back foot? Shocking. And like I said he got too cute. He got up 0-2 then tried to get guys to chase and LSU wouldn’t.

Crazy we haven’t seen Dale yet. Losing in Omaha is his bat signal

You have to use him and Wood to make the finals.
I'm not sure about that. We're in a unique position for a college team in the sense that we can throw a bullpen game and it actually be an effective strategy.

I think it comes down to who we see Tuesday. If it's LSU, it wouldn't shock me to see Root given their general struggles with lefties.

Yes. Against MSU.

Obviously we could go Wood, Root Jimenez/Cheese (bp game).

It really comes down to do you believe you can beat MSU with your weakest arms. Dave would get shite all over if he goes bp game against MSU, but I would support it. We have to trust our offense will carry us through that game.

You just missed him. He's already been in the other thread.

That sucked. Just got back to hotel. Good day at the park…besides losing of course.

Hopefully Arkansas fans show back up Monday, because this city is pulling for Murray State.

People tend to pull for the underdog and show indifference towards the top seed when in Omaha.

We've lost 6 of Root's last 9 starts.

That's hard to believe since DVH coached Nebraska.

Anyway,

He clearly was not fine. He absolutely imploded. And you forgot a hit by pitch.

The biggest pitch in the game was the 2-2 pitch to Curiel in the 2nd with 1 on and 1 out.

Root throws a pitch on the corner that should’ve been called strike 3. It was called a ball and Root was clearly bothered by it and couldn’t get over it. Next pitch was down and he walks. Suddenly it’s 2 on, 1 out instead of 1 on, 2 out.

Then Dickinson lays down a bunt single to load the bases and the implosion was on.

Root’s emotion is good when everything’s working for him, but it’s his Achilles heel when he’s not hitting his spots or getting calls.

Best case scenario is UCLA knocks LSU into loser's and we get them on Tuesday pitching their Sunday guy. I feel way better about beating UCLA twice than having to match up with Anderson/Eyanson back to back.

The deeper we can get into the tournament, the more our advantage grows. Very few, if any teams left have the pitching depth we do. We just don't have the consistency at the top.
If we make it the championship series (long shot) we better hope the winner of the other side was forced to go into the loser's bracket at some point in the week.

I'm not overly optimistic right now.

Root is a head case pitcher, period.

Early lunch at Stella's Bar and Grill, highly underrated if you're anywhere close to Omaha.

Might've been the greatest single player performance in a team sport I've ever witnessed. 19 k's, 1 assist, 1 put out? Unreal.

As far as pitching performances, second only to Kerry Wood’s 20K performance.

Suddenly the pitching situation isn't so bad. Three games to go and only Wood and Gaeckle are for sure scratches with Gaeckle more than likely being available Thursday should we get there.

As long as we don’t make mistakes, I think we can pitch our way further…. If… If we start hitting better and not leaving runners on. Too many guys swinging with their eyes closed and getting away from their game. Looked better today though and we put down a hot team that others were struggling with.
