The program is 0 - for against LSU, not just DVH.
6/3/1987 - LSU 5-2 Loss
6/15/2009 - LSU 9-1 Loss

It just feels like LSU has taken more than their share of the glory the last few years, particularly from us. And we owe them one.

I posted this on the rant...
I would expect Cheese (LHP) to get the start. I would also expect DVH to make pitching changes each time through the LSU order. Which means you maybe see Cheese go 2-3 innings. Then I think we see some order of Coil(LHP), Bybee (RHP), Carter (RHP), Gibler (LHP), and Foutch (RHP). Out of those guys, you stick with whoever is hot out of the pen and roll with them until consecutive hits or a walk or two.
DVH is 9-5 against Jay Johnson since he arrived at LSU. In those Arkansas wins, the Hogs magic number is getting to 5 runs scored. DVH is 7-1 against Johnson at LSU when Arkansas scores at least 5 runs in a game.
So while we focus on pitching and who is available, Arkansas needs to put some runs up and keep hitting the ball as they have the last two games in Omaha to have a chance the next two days

Anyone second guessing the Wood start is crazy. I think we are all happy for Gage, and it’s a game I watched with my kids I’ll never forget. But I don’t think anyone here expected that kind of performance.
I’m glad they used Root yesterday. Had his first inning yesterday happened against LSU today he wouldn’t have made it. UCLA didn’t have the killer instinct to put a team away early.
I said several weeks ago teams that win titles have players show up that maybe haven’t done as much during the season. We’ve seen that with Wood and Gack, we still have talent left in the pen and am excited to see who else steps up tonight.

Second guessing is a waste of time
If it’s meant to be for us to win it all it’ll happen regardless

I don't care if it's small ball, long ball, base knocks or steals. We must quit leaving so many runners stranded the next two.
And I know DVH won't do it, but you shake up the batting order by moving Helfrick to the bottom.

Thought about this but don't think it's the right move. Same thing with Kozeal
He's our catcher and Kozeal is an energy guy. Both have the potential to bounce back at the plate. Need them both feeling confident and supported across the board, not beaten down.
DvH stuck with Maxwell who was lost and he responded last night.
We're getting a decent amount out of Big Country, Iredale and Thomas behind them, don't think there's any real reason to shake things up at this point.

If we’re talking about switching up the batting order, here’s my best go at it:
Thomas
Davalon
W Aloy
Maxwell
Kozeal
Helfrick
Iredale
Robinette
Boles
Thomas
Davalon
W Aloy
Maxwell
Kozeal
Helfrick
Iredale
Robinette
Boles

Arkansas hitters' performance so far in Omaha...

Chuck Davalan: 4/13, 1 BB, 2 Ks, 2 LOB, 1 RBI
Wehiwa Aloy: 5/11, 2 BB, 2 Ks, 0 LOB, 4 RBI, 1 HR
Logan Maxwell: 2/10, 1 BB, 2 Ks, 2 LOB, 3 RBI
Ryder Helfrick: 1/11, 0 BB, 4 Ks, 9 LOB, 0 RBI
Kuhio Aloy: 1/9, 2 BB, 4 Ks, 2 LOB, 0 RBI
Cam Kozeal: 1/10, 1 BB, 4 Ks, 0 LOB, 0 RBI
Brent Iredale: 2/9, 2 BB, 3 Ks, 0 LOB, 0 RBI
Reese Robinett: 2/11, 0 BB, 4 Ks, 2 LOB, 1 RBI, 1 HR
Justin Thomas Jr.: 6/10, 0 BB, 1 K, 2 LOB, 1 RBI
6PM forecast for Omaha
- 77 degrees, 15% chance rain, NNW 4mph Wind
The wind...for the first time in the World Series, the wind is not coming in from center field or right field (S or SW winds). Winds tonight will be 4mph out to right field. Something to keep an eye on with Aloy's oppo power, Kozeal, Davalan, Robinett, and Maxwell.

Also lost in the shuffle of last nights game and today's matchup with LSU...
Arkansas got to 50 wins last night. This is just the fourth time in school history that Arkansas has reached that milestone. DeBriyn had two 50 win seasons in 33 seasons as manager. Van Horn now has two 50 win seasons in 22 seasons.
50 Win Seasons
1985: 51-15
1987: 51-16
2021: 50-13
2025: 50-14 (ongoing)

I agree. Helfrick has been one of our best hitters as of late. I’m guessing he’s spending more time prepping for calling a game behind the plate. Maybe flip him and Kozeal.
We’ve bunted and stole some. Our approach at the plate looks intentional and while we have more K’s than anyone would like…I don’t think we have anyone who looks completely lost.
We barreling up several balls yesterday, some dropped and some didn’t but I haven’t seen anything over the course of the past several months that says they can’t figure it out.

OPS so far in the CWS (too small of a sample size but here it is anyways)
Excellent:
W Aloy - 1.538
Thomas Jr - 1.300
Serviceable:
Robinett - .727
Davalan - .665
Not Great:
Iredale - .586
Maxwell - .573
Woof:
K Aloy - .384
Kozeal - .282
Helfrick - .182
I’d be fine if DVH bumped Helfrick down a few spots and threw JT toward the top. But I don’t think he will.

We have a few other options for DH also. Might well be time to try a few. K Aloy hasn't done much in the past month.
Posted on 6/18/25 at 3:48 pm to Rzrbackguy
Kozeal has to get it going.

Cheese officially the starter

Lineup remains the same. LSU starting Cowan.

Let’s hope we ride him until he needs to be pulled and not some predetermined inning, etc.

I repeat….why not plug the DH leak. Try something!

He would insert Diggs, so by not changing at least there is a chance of something positive happening.
