Are we officially in “that’s just baseball” mode?

I think it's "I'd rather peak in May-June ". mode

I feel like we peaked in April.

This team concerns me quite a bit right now.

We won one series in April, Mizzou. It's the worst April we've had since the no tournament team in 2016.

I don’t think the sky is falling. Yes we’ve lost 3 series but all were against preseason top 10 teams that were probably more motivated than us. We also outscored UGA and Florida.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us come out with something to prove this weekend and sweep Texas.

Dude, I hope you are correct, but I would be very surprised. A couple injured pitchers, Morale looks a bit down, mistakes made, and hitting has taken the approach of past years all of a sudden.

We should have won the series at Florida, but PITCHING!

Meh, Here is a direct comparison to our run production vs. the other top 4 teams in the conference accounting for the quality of the opponents staff in the last 3 series

A ratio of the teams average runs scored to opponents average ERA over those 3 series.

AR 6.4/6.4
TX 5.6/5.7
LSU 5.3/5.3
TN 4.8/5.2

Number of times each team was held under 5 runs

AR - 3
TX - 4
LSU - 3
TN -5

I understand, but again I mentioned pitching... And, in the Florida series... We were gifted some nice errors by our opponents.

Now, I know that is the game... But we aren't batting the same as earlier in the season with regards to battling... or so it seems to me.

If our pitching were as good as we thought, we would be in the drivers seat however...

In all honesty Rev the level of competition has ramped up. I think that has a lot to do with the bats.

Pitching, there's not one starter that I have any confidence in going past 5 innings at this point. And the bullpen, which we were told would be strong
has proven to be another weak link.

Anywho, Beat Texass!

We are for sure in a funk, I was more so saying we haven’t had an epic collapse at the plate like it seems. Our starting pitching has been the problem.I think the bullpen is fine, but they can’t be expected to pitch 15+ innings every weekend.

There’s a reason our pitching sucks.

From a smart guy on another board:

“Arkansas is very scripted in terms of pitching.

In 0-2 or 1-2 counts, Arkansas has thrown 231 FB out of 912 pitches, 84 have been in the zone. 9% of plus count pitches has been a FB in the zone even though we have 6+ pitchers who throw 95+.

However, only 360 of those 912 pitches were called balls (39%). So you have a 91% chance in a plus count pitch vs Arkansas is either out of the zone or a breaking ball.

It's why our strikeout rates are plummeting, IMO:

1. We don't throw inside FBs so every opponent is just standing on the plate ready to barrel the outside edge
2. If we ever get ahead, we are very predictable”

Good stuff, Im sure they have meetings about how they want to approach hitters, but I haven’t been a fan of the way Helfrick calls a game. Maybe the staff need to take a more proactive approach calling pitches.

I do think with a couple of guys they were attacking early in the season and giving up hard hit balls on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. It seems like there has been an overcorrection
